Love at First Hum
What is it that first attracted you to your significant other?
Sure. There are physical attributes that catch our eye. Nice hair. A great smile. Or for me, long fingers. I’m probably weird, but I like the way they look.
Then, as we get to know the other person, other qualities become even more important. Like a laugh. Or for my husband and me, our mutual love of singing … all the time. Seriously, some days it’s like we live in our own personal musical.
In my novels, I try to mix it up and not use the same stunning blue eyes or gorgeous smile. After all, no one has the same favorite features, right? And I had a lot of fun with my latest novel, which releases TODAY, No Place Like Home.
The first thing Adrian notices about Gray is his sunny smile and happy attitude. And it warms a part of her heart that has been chilly for too long.
Gray is also physically attracted to Adrian. Her long brown hair is just his type.
But as they get to know each other, more important things help them grow closer and closer, despite the obstacles they continue to throw in the way of love.
Gray is a sucker for the fact that Adrian is a fellow-movie buff, especially loving the old films. And her constant humming sets his heart to singing. As she reveals more of her history to him, their similar conflicts show him maybe something real could come from this time together.
Adrian has no desire for a relationship, but if she did, Gray would be at the top of the list. His positive attitude and the fact that he brings her coffee are just what she’d like to have in her life.
As with all relationships, Adrian and Gray have to build on those little attractions if they want something deeper. Just like my husband and I needed more than a love of song. But you’ve got to start somewhere, right?
About Amy: Amy R Anguish grew up a preacher’s kid, and in spite of having lived in seven different states that are all south of the Mason Dixon line, she is not a football fan. Currently, she resides in Tennessee with her husband, daughter, and son, and usually a bossy cat or two. Amy has an English degree from Freed-Hardeman University that she intends to use to glorify God, and she wants her stories to show that while Christians face real struggles, it can still work out for good. About the book – No Place Like Home:
Can love secure Adrian’s wandering heart?
Roots are overrated, at least to someone like Adrian Stewart, preacher’s kid, who has never lived anywhere longer than six years. That’s why her job with MidUSLogIn is so perfect for her—lots of travel and staying nowhere long enough to have it feel like home. But when work takes her to Memphis, TN, closer to her family for the first time in years, and in the same small office as Grayson Roberts, she starts to question her job, her lack of home, and even her memories of her rocky past with the church.
Gray is intrigued by Adrian from the moment he sees her, and he’s determined to get to the bottom of why this girl who loves old movies and hums when she works won’t go to church with him. As they grow closer, he wants more, too, but how can he convince her to stay in Memphis when she doesn’t believe in home—or God? Can he use his own broken past to break through hers?

Jenny Carlisle says
I think what attracted me first to my love was his quiet, Southern charm. The other kids I hung around with all seemed to love him. Besides, he was tall, and really cute!
Amy Anguish says
Tall fellas are always attractive to me, too. Especially when charming. They can reach the top shelf! 😉
Molly Bull says
My husband has a deep, manly speaking voice. I loved to hear his voice on the phone when he called to invite me out.
Amy Anguish says
My husband has a deep voice, too. I definitely understand the attraction. 🙂
Cherie J says
What attracted to me first besides his looks being appealing to me is the fact that he was devoted to his mother. Family is important to me so it was important I find someone who feels that way too.
Amy R Anguish says
That’s a great thing to be attracted to. Family is definitely important. And you know if he treats his mama right, he’ll probably treat you right, too. 🙂
Natalya Lakhno says
Hm…I didn’t like his name LOL
Amy Anguish says
That’s so funny! Thanks for sharing.
Shannon Vannatter says
His hair. He had this big Barry Gibb hair I loved. It’s all gone now. But I tell him if you look good with hair, you look good without it.
Amy Anguish says
My husband used to have a lot more hair, too. Definitely still handsome.

I have a winner! Cherie J. won the drawing. I appreciate Amy for being my guest and everyone else for stopping by.
