Shannon here: Catherine West shares a glimpse into her real life romance, plus a chance to win a copy of her book: Yesterday’s Tomorrow. Comment on any post dated March 21 – 26 for a chance to win. Deadline: Midnight, central time March 26. Here’s Catherine:
1. What’s the most romantic thing your spouse has ever done for you?
Well, when we got engaged, we were both poor students, so we agreed that we’d hold off on getting me a ring until we could afford something nice. My hubby cooked me a lovely candlelight dinner to celebrate the occasion, and my plate had one of those metal covers on it – when I lifted it up, there was no food on my plate, just a black velvet box! And yes, there was a beautiful engagement ring inside!
2. What’s the most romantic thing you’ve ever done for your spouse?
Had his children. LOL. I don’t know, that’s what he thinks anyway, so I’ll go with that. J
3. Where is the most romantic place you and your spouse have ever been?
We recently enjoyed a trip to Napa and Sonoma in California, and that was truly romantic. It’s a beautiful area and the wineries are amazing, a lot of really wonderful architecture – and of course the drive along the coast is pretty spectacular, as are the Redwoods!
4. Do you and your spouse have a favorite romantic restaurant?
We love going to a restaurant called Tom Moore’s Tavern. In the winter months they always have a fire going, and it’s very romantic.
5. Do you and your spouse have a favorite song?
Endless Love by Lionel Ritchie (and Diana Ross). And that dates us!!
6. What’s the most romantic present your spouse ever bought for you?
Oh, ha, these are fun! I had always, always wanted a crystal chandelier. Of course I never dreamed he’d actually get me one. For Christmas one year, I had this big box under the tree. I thought it was a television! It was a chandelier. And we moved it from our old house to our new one two years ago when we moved because I am never parting from it!
7. What’s the most romantic present you ever bought your spouse?
I’m really terrible at thinking of romantic things, which is bad considering I write romance! This isn’t terribly romantic, but a couple of years ago when I was heading to the ACFW conference in Minneapolis, I surprised him for his birthday by telling him I’d booked him into the Desiring God conference there, which just happened to be the weekend after conference. So we stayed in the area for a week and he got to hear John Piper, his favorite speaker ever!
8. Do you and your spouse have a favorite romantic vacation destination?
We used to. The hotel where we spent our honeymoon here in Bermuda, unfortunately closed down several years ago, but we had gone back every year if we could, until it did close.

Wonderful and fun interview — I am the most unromantic woman *laugh* — my husband teases me about it all the time. I cringe at kissing scenes on tv and in movies, et cetera! *laugh* ….
Great Interview! Would love to win a copy of the book.
