Shannon here: Jamie Adams shares insight into her characters’ romance from her latest Historical Romance, The Welcome Wagon. Comment or answer the question in this post to enter the drawing for an e-book copy. Deadline: Jan 28th, 11:59 pm central time. Here’s Jamie:
- Do your hero and heroine have as favorite romantic restaurant?
We both love The Welcome Wagon restaurant since it brought the two of us together.
- What is your hero’s favorite romantic vacation destination?
My folks moved to Hot Springs, Arkansas a few years ago because of the healing springs there. From what I hear, it’s a beautiful place to visit. Maggie and I love to spend time there alone and with the family.
- How soon after meeting the hero did the heroine know he was the one?
It took me a while to let my guard down long enough to realize Owen was the perfect man for me. Busy trying to keep my wards safe, I didn’t think I would ever have time for romance.
- How soon after meeting the heroine did the hero know she was the one?
I knew right away I wanted to spend the rest of my life with Maggie. Her beautiful blue eyes caught my attention the first time I saw her and her selfless love for her family won my heart.
- Who is most romantic, your hero or your heroine?
Owen is very romantic. Raised in a close-knit family, he hasn’t met many women, but his parents taught him to value and treat women with respect.
- What is the most caring thing your hero has ever done for your heroine?
Owen was ready to give up his profession and lifelong friends to keep Maggie’s secret safe.
- Who said, “I love you” first, your hero or your heroine?
Owen was the first one to say “I love you”

About the book – The Welcome Wagon: When a wagon train is attacked leaving women and children alone and vulnerable, churches throughout the Ozarks take them in. Maggie Lynn and her wards, along with three other women, end up in an out-of-the-way town in Arkansas. Maggie has seen her fair share of loss, but now she’s responsible for raising her orphaned nieces and must find a way to support them.
Sensible small-town sheriff, Owen Sommers, tries to keep the peace when a wagon full of women descends on his city of bachelors, but his principles are challenged when he suspects the ladies have something to hide. His suspicions are confirmed when strangers appear in town looking for what they believe is rightfully theirs.
As tensions rise and hearts become entangled, will Maggie be able to trust Owen with the truth? And what will happen if she does?

Come back Jan 24th for Judy the Morgan!
Hey Jamie, glad to have you here today. I wouldn’t have wanted to do the wagon train thing if I’d lived back then. I don’t rough it well. But I guess just living back then was roughing it. Which is why I’ve always been thankful I live now. I love modern conveniences. The only way I’d have gone on a wagon train was if I’d had no other choice, like if I my family wouldn’t survive otherwise.
I live in Arkansas, and this sounds like an interesting story.
fun interview
Oh, I agree! The conveniences we have today make life so much nicer. I can’t imagine living in the Ozarks without an a/c in the summer and propane in the winter.
I do miss the morals, manners, and values of the old days though.
I have a winner! Kim Hansen won the drawing. I appreciate Jamie for being my guest and everyone else for stopping by.
