- What’s the most romantic thing your hero ever did for your heroine?
Rachelle has had to fight off the stigma of having her father put in jail for murder. Her mother suffers with depression from her circumstances. When along comes Gage Fontaine, treasure seeker extraordinaire, to Stepping Stones Island, Maine. Gage recognizes their rock bottom and sets out to free them just as he frees treasure from the ocean floor.
- Do your hero and heroine have a favorite romantic restaurant?
Who needs a restaurant when you have a sleek yacht to dine out under the stars every night?
- What is your hero’s favorite romantic vacation destination?
Wherever the next treasure is. But seriously, as romantic as treasure seeking sounds, it is hard work to research, plan, acquire the rights to dive if you even find the sunken ship at all. But the traveling to the next destination can be quite a romantic setting, as long as no one is chasing you in your wake.
- What simple gesture does your hero do that melts your heroine every time?
Smiles. Gage is all smiles, so much so his diving mask comes unstuck from his face when he is under water because of his laugh lines. That could be a potentially perilous situation if it happens at a most inopportune moment.
- What simple gesture does your heroine do that melts your hero every time?
Gage’s favorite treasure to hunt for is emeralds. Rachelle’s eyes sparkle like the radiant jewels themselves. Saying no to her is nearly impossible when she bats those green eyes at him.
- Who is most romantic, your hero or your heroine?
Gage’s whole persona has romantic written all over him, but who cares if he has no one to share his adventurous life with him? If only Rachelle wasn’t a landlubber.

The last time I was on a boat was in Kaui, when I went on a sunset cruise.This trip was originally supposed to be with my husband; however, he ended up having to work, so a female friend went with me. She was concerned about getting seasick, so she spent the entire trip sitting on the top deck, despite the fact that the beautiful Nepali Coastline was on the other side. I decided I was not going to let her resistance spoil my enjoyment, so I spent a lot of time on the next deck down, on the side of the beautiful cliffs. Everything was fine until they started serving the dinner. The meal was pretty similar to typical Luau food, which I loved; however, as I began eating, I realized my tummy was feeling a little uncomfortable, so I kept it light, and then went back out where I would get fresh air. The fresh air helped, but I decided I needed to use the restroom, which was located in the belly of the vessel. BIG mistake! You feel every lurch from there–I quickly learned it is the worst place to go if you are feeling at all sick! W/O going into detail, I immediately had a HUGE problem, and wasn’t sure what to do. Eventually, someone was outside, asking if I needed help, & I said yes. One of the crew came down, and when I opened the door to him, he yanked me out and said “Get upstairs NOW! This is the worst place to be when you are sick!” He had me sit in the back of the boat, near the side, so I could “feed the fish” if I felt sick again; however, I the placement & the fresh air did the trick. I was still able to watch the sunset & was soon joined by two couples–the female’s were both feeling sick & one of them ended up “feeding the fish”.
I learned a couple things from this. 1.) Don’t go below deck if you are feeling sick! 2.) Don’t think that because you have been on cruises with some rough waters, without experiencing seasickness that you will be immune on a smaller vessel. 3.) ‘Getting sick” from seasickness is not the same as when it is from the flu. Because you don’t have the bile & such that the flu provides, you will feel better as soon as you finish ‘being sick’.
Will I go on a boat again? Absolutely! I can’t wait for my next cruise or even a smaller vessel.

I grew up in a family that loved boats and water. One of my favorite memories was in Hawaii sailing on a friend’s 45 foot sailboat off of Waikiki. So exhilarating ! 🙂

I enjoyed all the boat stories. I have motion sickness in cars, boats, even a swing makes me sick. A few years back, I went to a big Christian Writers Conference. My published had arranged an author dinner on a steamboat. It never dawned on me that the boat would move. I got sick and dizzy, but tried to pretend I was okay, so my editor wouldn’t feel bad. I never tossed my cookies, just felt like I was going to. After I got back to the hotel room, I had a recorded interview for an author website. I just knew I was green, but it turned out okay. Once back in my room, I realized my motion sickness pills had been in my purse the whole time. I’d thought they were in my suitcase.
