THE FIRST MEETING (SORT OF)
When did I meet my husband? That’s a good question, and I wish I knew the answer. The truth is I have no recollection of not knowing him. I’ve known my husband all my life. Growing up, he lived beside one of my favorite aunts so he was just there—all the time—annoying me.
The annoying part of that changed as we became teenagers. As a dreamy teen-age girl I was sure he was the one. Now, he likes to joke that I was one of his groupies. Yes, he was in a rock band, but I would not call myself a groupie!
Anyway, life took us in different directions. And I’m mature enough to admit, I wasn’t entirely happy about the different directions. Yes, I moved on and had a life—without him.
Of course, now I wished I’d fought harder for us to stay connected back then. But truthfully, it probably wouldn’t have worked out anyway. Something about being too stubborn and immature. You know how boys are! OK, well maybe me, too!
Anyway…fast forward many, many years. One day I noticed on an email my sister sent me that she’d sent the email to him as well. Well…what was that all about?
So, I asked her. OK, maybe it was more like an interrogation. She finally said why don’t you email him? I rolled my eyes and said, “As if I would…”
But it was obvious to me there were still some feelings there. I did mention the stubborn and immature part before, right? Me—not him!
In fact, one of my books has the title—IN A CORNER OF HER HEART. Yes, there may have been a tiny corner of my heart that was reserved only for him.
But it was time to get over it.
I don’t know how other people do it, but I’m a writer so…. One of the ways I process my experiences is to incorporate them into my stories. So, I decided to write a story where he would be the bad guy. Not just an ordinary, run-of-the mill bad guy. But the bad guy that other bad guys would be afraid of.
Anyway to make a long story short, he finally did email me. After emailing each other for awhile, we decided to meet. So, we did. I won’t go into all the details, but….after that first meeting, I knew then I had to go back and rewrite the story.
He wasn’t one of the bad guys.
In fact, I knew that he was one of the really good guys!

About the book – The Christmas Stalking: Overzealous fan or crazed stalker?
Country music superstar Destiny appears to have it all. Beauty, money, and fame. But it’s not all glitz and glamour. Being a celebrity comes with a price—loneliness, and now threats from an unknown stalker.
With Christmas approaching, and as the danger escalates in Nashville, Destiny has no choice but to disappear. She escapes to her grandparents’ cabin in the Adirondack Mountains near the tiny Village of Serenity & Peace. It seems to be the perfect choice for a hideout. Longing for the serenity and peace she experienced there as a child, Destiny sheds her celebrity persona and resumes her long-forgotten identity as Holly Stone.
