Shannon here: Historical romance author, Lynette Sowell shares insight into her real life romance, plus a chance to win her novella, Letters from Home which is included in the 4 in 1 collection, Sundays in Fredericksburg. Comment on any post dated April 12 – 19 for a chance to win the collection. Deadline: April 27th, 11:59 pm central time. Here’s Lynette:
- Do you and your spouse have a favorite romantic restaurant?
Our favorite local spot is a family-run Italian restaurant called Giovanni’s. A few years ago they moved into a new facility that has a romantic atmosphere and great food, too!
- Do you and your spouse have a favorite song?
It’s hard to pick a favorite song, but we had two songs played at our wedding that we still find very romantic – “I Swear” and “Keeper of The Stars.”
- What’s the most romantic present your spouse ever bought for you?
A couple years ago, he bought me a copy of the Princess Diana engagement ring. I wear it often and it reminds me of how royally he treats me.
- Do you and your spouse have a favorite romantic vacation destination?
Our favorite place is Port Aransas, Texas. It’s a small-ish GulfCoast town about 20 minutes from Corpus Christi. Palm trees, beach, good food, relaxed atmosphere. We love it.
- How soon after meeting your spouse did you know he was the one?
It was several years after we met. When we finally dated, it didn’t take me long after that to know! We dated about one month before we were engaged, although we’d known each other for several years.
- Where did you and your spouse go for your honeymoon?
We stayed at a bed and breakfast outside a small Texas town called Clifton. It was beautiful, remote, quiet, and close enough to a city to go out to eat and do some shopping. Yes, my hubby likes to shop!

About the novella – Letters from Home: When the effects of WWII reach Fredericksburg, amateur photographer Trudy Meier isn’t sure she has the courage to love a roving reporter who comes to the hometown of Admiral Nimitz. Bradley Payne has more than local stories in mind during his stay in Fredericksburg. He’s in search of his roots and the family his father never told him about. He doesn’t plan on falling in love so quickly with the town, nor with Trudy. Then the open road comes calling him again, Trudy’s former fiance’ reenters her life, and all must make some difficult choices.
About Sundays in Fredericksburg: Come on down to Fredericksburg, Texas, where four generations of couples encounter romance in Sunday Houses. Having become a schoolteacher to avoid marriage, Amelia Bachman finds her resolve crumbling before a smitten carpenter. Determined not to fall in love, Mildred Zimmermann carefully nurses an army medic crippled in love and war. Somewhat of a homebody, Trudy Meier isn’t sure she has the courage to love a roving reporter. Gwendolyn’s beautiful wildflower field is threatened by a geologist’s search for knowledge. Will these four women risk their hearts for the love a stranger?
Come back April 19th for Eileen Key!
