Near the end of my Freshman year of high school my sister’s lab partner, Gary asked if she would introduce him to me. My sister did the next best thing, she gave him my phone number. He called that evening and asked if he could walk me home after school. We met up the next day. On our walk home I immediately summed Gary up as serious, focused and very practical. Hardly the makings of a fun fourteen year old.
That summer Gary dropped by my house often with his friends. My family loved him. One day Gary told my mother that he planned to marry me one day. My thought was, his future plan had one flaw, I wasn’t going to be in it.
From time to time over the next couple years Gary asked me out on dates. Sometimes I even said yes. But still no interest.
The summer before college Gary and I met up again. I was working at local restaurant and he and his family came in. He asked if he could call me and I agreed. It became evident that evening when he called that I was ready for a serious, focused and practical guy.
Our first date was to the movies to see Star Wars. Being not much of a movie buff, I dozed off a little, but still enjoyed our date! That evening, Gary told me he loved me. A few dates later, I told him the same.
During our second year of college we married. We moved to North Arizona, scrimped and saved, hiked beautiful mountain trails and spent countless days dreaming about our future. After college, Gary started working for a major airline carrier as an airline pilot.
Together we have been blessed to travel to far off lands, raise five great kids and still dream about our future. Now after 33 years, we are still enjoying the blessings the Lord has bestowed upon us. Which now include three precious grandchildren. God is good!!

Charlie wants a second chance, but can Isabelle trust the man he’s become? Can she surrender her threadbare heart long enough for God to weave Isabelle’s own happily-ever-after tapestry?
