Miralee Ferrell – Fictional Romantic Interview – Part 2 of 2

      1.    Are you open to your own romance?
I’ll admit, it’s something I’ve thought about, but I have no real expectations. The only man who ever truly loved me for ME died, and even though I didn’t love him the way he deserved, I cared about him and would have married him. It’s been hard for me to trust me, but I’m hoping someday that will change.
      2.    What’s the number one quality you’d require in a mate?
He has to accept me for who I am, even with my somewhat colorful past. I want him to love me in spite of my past, and treat me with respect.
     3.    What’s the number two quality you’d require in a mate?
Honesty, hands down. So many men have lied to me and tricked me in the past. I need a man who will always tell me the truth, no matter how painful it might be, but I realize that may be a lot to expect.
     4.    Where is the best place you can think of to find a mate?
I’d like to say church, but I’ve seen some rather pious, hypocritical people there in my past, so I’m not totally sure. But in the past few years I’ve also made friends who truly live the Christian life, and even a few men who live like they preach, so I guess that’s what I’ll go with.
     5.     Where is the worst place you can think of to find a mate?
With my past, that’s an easy one. A saloon. Most men who go to drink or gamble, also go with an eye to finding an easy woman. Of course, I never went beyond serving drinks during my dance hall and saloon days, but I can’t imaging finding a decent man who’d frequent one of those places.
     6.    What type of character traits are you attracted to?
A man who knows what he wants and who he is, who works hard to earn a living, but isn’t afraid to show his caring, tender side to a woman.
     7.    What type of features are you attracted to?
You know, I’ve been fooled in the past by a handsome face, so I don’t really care about looks anymore. Ralph, my fiancé who died, was a rather large, plain man, but he was the most gentle, kind person I’ve ever met. That’s so much more important than looks!
     8.     What’s the one habit or lifestyle that would make you run the other way?
Drinking and gambling. I’ve seen both ruin more than one man, and as a result, many a woman who loved them.
     9.     What would be a reason to end a potential romance for you?
I’ve had men get rough with me, and won’t ever allow another man to lay a hand on me in that way. If he did, I’d walk, no matter how much I thought I cared.
    10.    Where do you dream of getting married?
I’d love to be married in a little chapel or church with my closest friends around me, but I doubt that will ever happen. Some of the people at the church I attended with my friends in Last Chance (before I moved here to Tombstone) were kind and accepted me there, but a number of the women who knew about my past stuck their noses up at me and never accepted me in their midst. I can’t imagine most preachers allowing me to get married in their church, but I do admit it would be nice.
    11.    What would be the best gift a potential mate could buy for you?
Honestly, I don’t want any gifts. I’ve been given enough of those in the past by men trying to buy my ‘love’. What I want from him—the best gift he could give me—would be his unconditional love and devotion, for the rest of our lives. Is that too much to ask, do you think? I hope not. It’s all I’ve ever wanted.
