I’m so tickled with my recently redone office. It was poorly organized and cluttered before making these changes with my husband’s help.
He gave up most of a day (and he works 50-60 hrs a wk), to help me. He painted an old, brown bookcase white for me—three coats—as well as assembled two wall units that took hours to do, then attached them to the largest wall in my office. I am so pleased with the result!! I can look at those shelves that now hold so many of my books I had in storage, and think of the love that my husband showed, giving his time to create a restful, organized space for me to write, and I feel so blessed and loved. I also have a reading area and exercise area set up, for leisure times, which I love. I tend to write in silence, so the TV is only for leisure times while exercising or taking a break. I also have two large calendars pinned to the walls behind me, so I can keep track of deadlines and schedules. I’m more productive when I’m not stressed and feel in charge of my schedule. Here are a few pictures of my writing space as well as my reading space.

About the book – Runaway Romance: When a reality TV star meets the reality of life, will it be her downfall or her salvation?
Ann Stanway had it all—a starring role in a reality show, an adoring boyfriend, and a sparkling future with limitless possibilities. Until the rules changed and the life she’d thought was real no longer existed. Leaving L.A. seems like her only option, and she lands in Kentucky at a quiet Amish inn—as far removed from her past as possible. Now she knows what was missing in her life–peace, true friendship and, dare she hope, a man who accepts her for who she is–or at least who he thinks she is.
Hunter Lewis is intrigued by the new woman staying at his friend’s Amish inn. Annie appears to be what she claims, but she’s secretive and won’t open up. He’s been burned by a woman before and can’t tolerate deception. But his interest in Annie is growing, and the attraction seems to be mutual—until something happens that makes Hunter question everything he’d thought was real. Dare he risk his heart, when he’s certain Annie is keeping secrets?
Can their new romance withstand the pressure, or will Ann choose to run again?
Don’t forget to set your DVR to record the movie on UP TV Jan 7th! But be sure and read the book too. All book-lovers know the book is always better than the movie.
Question for readers: Where is your favorite place to read? Do you have a reading space? Tell us about it.
Come back Jan 9th for Janet W. Ferguson!
Love to read on my couch in winter and my front porch rocking chair in summer
It looks like the walls are blue. I think blue is such a restful color!!
I sit in one of our new rocker recliners in our living room in our small rural home. It may face a wall where the television is on the wall in the living room, but it also faces the dining room patio doors which gives me a view of our back yard and the few feet of woods behind it … and can glimpse a bit of the sunsets in the seasons when the leaves are off the trees.
I’ll read almost anywhere, Sheila! But I love the front porch as well, or my easy chair near my fire.
I love that you can excercise in your space.i would need a machine with a shelf for a book or kindle! Love the bookshelves, too. I have too many books and not enough shelves. My shelves are full of crafting things. Blessings!
Oh, I read just about anywhere.
I love how the furniture, carpet, lamp, and bookcase are put together for an intimate reading spot … or a spot to sit with someone to visit, discuss a book, talk about your book(s), or just read a book quietly together. I sit in our small rural home’s living room rocker recliner. It may face the interior living room wall where the television is, but it gives me a nice view of our backyard and the few feet of woods behind it through the dining room patio doors. When the leaves are off the trees, I also can view a bit of the sunset too, while enjoying a fire in the fireplace wood burner insert. In the warm weather months, I can get a nice breeze when the front door behind my chair and the patio doors are open. A nice spot to read and have a hot cup of tea or a glass of iced tea!
My favorite place to read years ago, was in the crook of an old oak tree. I no longer climb trees so have to be content with either the couch or the bed.
Looks great! Although I am not an author, I need to get my office organized like this. I can barely get through to my desk (not sharing any pictures). Brenda and I are looking forward to the movie Sunday evening.
WOW!!! Your husband did a wonderful job and it looks so peaceful. Amazing area to write and read.. so cool.
My favorite place to read is my front porch. There’s a creek in our front yard and I love listening to it.
I have a winner! Marsha Verostek won the drawing. I appreciate Miralee for being my guest and everyone else for stopping by.
