My wonderful husband and I have been married 46 ½ years, so I have several romance stories I can share!
I have to start off by answering this question of Shannon’s first:
- Who is most romantic, you or your spouse?
No doubt about it—my husband! I say I write the romances, and he gives me the material!
So, I bet you can guess the answer to the next question:
- Who said, “I love you” first, you or your spouse?
He did, of course!
- What’s the most romantic thing your spouse has ever done for you?
I can’t stop with just one, so I’ll share two:
One year he stamped a heart with our initials inside it on the hillside outside our kitchen window. I didn’t notice it for a couple days until the snow started to melt, and some green grass started peeking through to make the heart stand out!
The next year he took that idea a little further, and made it a lot more dangerous. He painted a big red heart on the barn roof with our initials inside. He came back up to the house and couldn’t see it enough, so went back and painted over the lines again to make it show up better. He almost fell off the barn while doing that!
- Where did you and your spouse go for your honeymoon?
We spent the first night at the Brown Hotel in Louisville, KY, since our wedding was in the evening. Then the next day we drove to Natural Bridge State Park in KY.
- Where is the most romantic place you and your spouse have ever been?
Again, I have to pick two. I love anywhere with a beach, and Hawaii has many great beaches. We celebrated there for our 15th anniversary and again for our 42nd anniversary.
And on our 41st anniversary we celebrated in Venice, Italy with a gondola ride, so that is the picture I am sharing. We are the couple in the front, with our good friends Kathy and Dave Foster in the back of the boat by the gondolier!
- What simple gesture does your spouse do that melts you every time?
Ever since I suffered with plantar fascitis several years ago, he gives me a foot massage on most nights, which I never turn down!
My husband and I are very happy that our 3 children all have been happily married to their spouses for 7 years or more. The picture of the couple on the front of Christmas Grace is our lovely daughter and her husband of 18 1/2 years!
