Shannon here: Romantic suspense author, Sandra Orchard shares a glimpse into her real life romance plus a chance to win a copy of Shades of Truth, the prequel to her latest release, Critical Condition. Comment on any post dated October 8th – 12th to get your name in the drawing. Deadline: Oct. 20th, 11:59 pm central time. Here’s Sandra:
- What’s the most romantic thing your spouse has done for you in the last week?
We were asked this question during a “Newlywed Game” when we were newlyweds, and it was the only question we both answered correctly. He did the dishes! These days, I’d say he cooked me breakfast and lunch and supper. Did I mention I’m on deadline? Of course when he met me in the airport dressed in his best suit and holding a sign that said Most beautiful woman in the world that was over-the-top sweet!
- What’s the most romantic thing you’ve ever done for your spouse?
For our first anniversary, I sent a chocolate-filled basket with helium balloons to his work. I hear he was the envy of every guy in the place.
- Do you and your spouse have a favorite song?
Elvis Presley’s I Can’t Help Falling in Love
- What’s the most romantic present your spouse ever bought for you?
A laptop. Okay, stay with me on this. I’m a romance writer. The laptop meant he was totally supportive of my pursuing my dreams.
- What simple gesture does your spouse do that melts you every time?
In the cold weather, he gets the wood stove started for me before he leaves for work.
- Where did you and your spouse go for your honeymoon?
We went camping. In a tent. At the end of June. Prime season for mosquitoes, black flies AND deer flies. I don’t recommend it. After a week, we ended up in a hotel in Ottawa and toured museums and art galleries and just enjoyed being together…without bugs. ~grin~

About the giveaway – Shades of Truth: Big city detective Ethan Reed is working deep undercover at a Christian youth detention center. The kind of place he spent some harrowing time in as a kid. Ethan’s mission: ferret out who’s recruiting resident teens for a drug ring. He expects help from the lovely, devoted director of Hope Manor. But Kim Corbett won’t tell Ethan anything– even when she’s threatened and attacked. When Ethan discovers what Kim is protecting, his guarded heart opens just a bit wider. Enough to make this the most dangerous assignment of his career.
Book 2 of Undercover Cops:
Fighting for justice puts their lives–and hearts–on the line.
About Sandra’s newest release – Critical Condition: There’s a murderer in the hospital, and nurse Tara Peterson is determined to prove it. With mysterious deaths in the cancer ward, anyone could be next. But no one wants to believe her…except undercover agent Zach Davis. The murderer wants Tara’s suspicions silenced, permanently. To protect Tara, Zach lets her in on his secret, and unwittingly into his heart. Tara and her three-year-old daughter are like the family he lost years before. Zach will risk everything to keep them safe, no matter the cost.
Come back Oct 12th for the story behind the story of Sandra’s inspiration for writing Critical Condition!

Hi, Sandra…I commented on Monday’s post, but wanted to check in for the second part of your love story. Great! And a reminder that doing something romantic for my DH each week….or day….is a way to show him how much I appreciate all he does for me and others. Thanks!
