Lately, Grant and I have discovered a new passion. It began when he became a full time pastor a few years back. Suddenly, he had spare time, something he hadn’t had in the dozen years he’d been bi-vocational. So, he got crafty. It started with a piano that no longer worked that a church member gave him. He gutted it and made a shelf. Another church member gave him some cedar logs. He made log candleholders. Shortly afterward, we stopped at a flea market and bought a bunch of cedar boards and he made a rustic hall tree.
ack when we first married, we often bargain hunted at flea markets. But sometime through the years, we’d stopped going. Once we rediscovered them, we started watching the Flea Market Flip TV show. He made so many projects they wouldn’t all fit in our house. Family members suggested we needed to get a booth and sell things.
This year, we finally bit the bullet. Our flea marketing turned into more than a hobby. Now we shop for items to flip in our booth. I make things too and we’ve both found a creative outlet. I reupholster and he paints, we make a great team, and we enjoy our joint projects. Profit – not so much. But fun – yes. Here’s some items we’ve sold lately. I bet you can guess which one I designed.
Our son hates every second of it, especially when we hit several flea markets in a row looking for items to flip. We tease him that one of these days, we’re going to buy a flea market and leave it in the will that he can’t sell it, that he has to run it.

Hey Cheryl, we have several good ones within a 70 mile radius of us.
We ended up selling the piano shelf. I hated to part with it, but we just didn’t have a good place for it. We’re keeping the hall tree. Our den is rustic, so it looks great in there. I’m wanting a coffee bar, but I don’t have room for it either.
I love to shop at flea markets. books,mugs,cat items,christmas stuff to deocrate with dolls bags and the list goes on and on
I LOVE the coffee bar, even though I’m not a coffee drinker. However, I have a new daughter-in-law who would love something like what you made. I will show her the one you made & maybe she will consider trying to find things to make one of her own. Flea markets…I think they are fun, but I don’t usually go looking for anything in particular–I just enjoy looking to see what catches my eye. Of course, my grown kids would probably say I have a whole flea market in my house. Lol

I get Christmas gifts from flea markets. Not sure how my giftees feel about getting used items, but they’re one of a kind.

We have a flea market in our house too. I go looking for things to flip or make something and also just to see what catches my eye. I could spend hours there.
Love flea markets but have to settle for garage sales here.
I don’t get around early enough for garage sales. By the time I get there, all the good stuff is gone. I like consignment and thrift stores too. Last time we visited TX, we went to Beorne. Wow there were a ton of Goodwill type stores benefiting various charities. Good buys and good causes.
