A Special Gift – My Love & My Rock
Once upon a time, when we were in the throes of rearing our four children, my best friend and high school sweetheart husband wanted to get me a gift to show how much I meant to him, but funds were limited. It was so long ago, but I was confident of his love and didn’t need a gift.
Well, that day when he came home, he presented me with a gift I have loved and treasured every day since. He brought me a rock.
He had gone out and found a rock, gone to a friend’s house who had a Dremmel tool and carved a heart onto the rock with our initials on it. How awesome is that, I ask you? SO I’ve had my Love Rock almost thirty years now. Sometimes it has graced our hearth, sometimes it lives in our garden, but wherever it is, every time I see it, I know my Ron loves me! Our theme comes from a Latin pendant he gave me when we were sixteen that said ‘I love you more than yesterday, but not as much as tomorrow’.

About the book – Vow Unbroken: A spunky young widow hires a veteran with a bad reputation to help her get her cotton to market in Jefferson, and sparks fly—but can she marry a man without the blessing of her estranged father?
Susannah Baylor believes her cotton crop is sold to a local business mand and waves goodbye to her neighbors’ wagon train. Four days later, the charlatan buyer tries to bilk her offering only half what he originally agreed to pay. Left with few choices, she reluctantly hires Henry Buckmeyer to help get both her wagons along the Jefferson Trace, the hard trail between her Northeast Texas farm and the cotton buyers at the port. It won’t matter that it’s her best crop ever if she doesn’t get a good price; she’ll be forced to sell off the land her husband and his brother left to her and the children.
Henry’s reputation as a drunken lay-about is well known, and she’s prepared for insolence, but not for his irresistible good looks or gentle manner. Romance soon entwines her heart with his, but she’s made a vow to marry only with her father’s blessing, and learning Henry doesn’t really know God further complicates everything. Plenty of dangers arise on the trace—but none so difficult as the desires of her heart.
Will love overcome all? Can she get her crop safely to market and sell it for enough? In this heartening and adventurous tale, Susannah’s family, fortitude, and faith are put to the ultimate test.

Bonnie, thank you so much! I’m glad you liked my story! I hope you’ll have time to click over to Amazon and leave a quick ‘why I like it’ review! I’m so impressed with the reviewers who write a synopsis (writers hate them, but reviewers are so good at it!) but there’s already a lot of those! Just go for the what you liked about it and it’ll take only a minute or two! 🙂
Thanks Heather, Jennifer, and Melanie! I loved being on Shannon’s blog because it’s all about LOVE, and love never fails!
I do hope you get a book, Elizabeth and Shelia! I love getting a free book, too! It’s a GOOD thing, and ALL good things come from the Lord!
