Interview with Rosie from Angel in Disguise by Darlene Franklin:
- Are you open to your own romance?
I s’pose so, but I’m too busy making a living to worry about finding a man.
- What’s the number one quality you’d require in a mate?
He has to be a Christian, and not just somebody who acts like the Bible is boring.
- What’s the number two quality you’d require in a mate?
He has to care about my mother and help me take care of her.
- Where is the best place you can think of to find a mate?
At church, but I hope to find someone who’s not a stuffy shirt.
- Where is the worst place you can think of to find a mate?
I’d hate to meet someone from my old life, when I used to do things against the law.
- What type of character traits are you attracted to?
Someone who is excited about the Lord.
Someone who cares about others—and shows it by what he does.
Someone who is strong and compassionate at the same time.
- What’s the one habit or lifestyle that would make you run the other way?
Someone who acts like they never done anything wrong and thinks they’re better than anybody else
- What would be a reason to end a potential romance for you?
If I found out he lied to me. I don’t need like pretense.
- Where do you dream of spending your honeymoon?
I’d like just once to stay in a fancy hotel room, where people would wait on me and I can’t hear my neighbors through the walls.
- What would be the best gift a potential mate could buy for you?
Nothing fancy—somethin’ I can use, like a bolt of cloth to makes dresses for me and Ma.

Lisa, My favorite time period? I enjoy them all, but I have enjoyed the last three I’ve done (1920s,30s, 40s) I heard first-hand accounts about those times my mother and grandmother, so they feel almost contemporary for me.
Darlene Franklin says
Patricia, so sorry to hear about your husband. I pray you soon get back into reading and other things that bring you joy.
I just published a romance between an older widow and widower – Barncastle Memorial. It’s a $.99 ebook at http://www.amazon.com/Barncastle-Memorial-Celebrate-Time-ebook/dp/B00CKVD5B8

I’m so glad to hear several of you mention the cover. Some of my Texan-purist co-authors complained at the absence of bluebells. 🙂 But I think it’s beautiful.
Martha, I’d love to hear those stories your mother told! I have another prairie romance coming out next month, Calico Brides, set in central Kansas in the 1870s.
Karen, good to see you again!
