In my novella, A Taste of Honey, my heroine wants to sweep the baking competitions with entries made with wildflower honey. She plans to start a business with the winnings. Of course I had to share a recipe!
Edith substitutes honey for sugar when possible. It took several attempts to master the sugar cookies. I borrowed a contemporary recipe if you want to try.
Oh, the problem with the honey? The meadow belongs to her neighbor—and he wants to plow it under to generate badly needed income.
HONEY SUGAR COOKIES
1 egg, beaten
½ c. oil
¼ c. honey
½ tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. sugar
2 c. flour
Mix ingredients together. Refrigerate one hour. Roll into small balls; roll in sugar. Drop onto cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 7-8 minutes or until golden brown.

Me too! I have to remind myself that they hadn’t discovered chocolate chip cookies in the 19th century and concentrate on other good ones like oatmeal and sugar cookies.

I don’t remember the name of the cookies I like to bake but they have oatmeal and chocolate and butterscotch chips, my son’s favorite. I also like to bake pumpkin cookies, my daughter likes them. I like to eat all kinds of cookies, especially if they have chocolate in them.
This book looks like a winner. (I know, but I couldn’t resist.)
Most cookies are enjoyable. Just leave the mint out of them!!!!! I love white chocolate chunk macadamian nut cookies. My friend and I made gingerbread and sugar cookies each holiday. Now the the “kids” are in college, working and/or married, (all out of state!) it makes scheduling the baking marathon a little tricky!!!! Thanx for the giveaway!!!!
I haven’t baked cookies in a long time. I do love milk chocolate chunk cookies from Wal-mart, and I wonder what cookies with chocolate almonds baked in them as if they were chips would be like.

Wow. Y’all are making me hungry too. I love white chocolate macademia nut cookies. But I don’t like to bake, so I’d rather let someone who enjoys baking, bake them for me 🙂 But butterscotch chips and chocolate almonds sound good. Yum, I don’t guess I knew there were such things since I don’t hang out in the baking aisle.
This is a hard question for me to answer. I love to bake and for the holidays I make at least 35 different kinds of cookies to give to friends and family. The one I make most often to eat would be chocolate chip w/pecans. They are one of the easiest ones to make. Thanks for the giveaway!
Favorite to bake is a toss up between shortbread and peanut butter. Favorite to eat is really almost any cookie! LOL! I LOVE the raspberry cheesecake ones at subway, a REALLY good chocolate chip, and rosemary or pecan shortbread all top the list though 😉

Heidi, anyone who doesn’t like chocolate chip is their favorite is lying! Well, obviously not. But they are terrific cookies, and good either in a crispy version or cake version.
I love Macadamia nut cookies! But I recently found a recipe for pumpkin cookies with brown sugar frosting that has become a favorite as well.

We have a recipe my husband likes to bake for get-togethers and the recipients like to take a few home too. They are large cookies with oatmeal base, spices, and nut varieties. Y*U*M

Kathleen, Shaun, Oatmeal seems to be running a close second to chocolate chip. I like a good oatmeal cookie. I should. I eat oatmeal every morning.
I love baking my Chocolate Chip Cherry cookies and for the CHRISTmas holiday, I always bake White Chocolate Dipped Cherry Shortbread cookies. I used to bake a different kind of cookie every year for the cookie swap and always came home with 13 dozen different kinds of cookies. I retired 7 years ago and no longer do the cookie swap – I really miss it.
Oh, Karen, white chocolate dipped cherry shortbread cookies definitely make my mouth water than anything I’ve heard so far. Oh, my. How absolutely delicious!

My favorite cookies to bake are snickerdoodles because they are pretty simple and taste great! My favorite cookies to eat are chocolate chip with walnuts. So yummy!
Your story sounds wonderful Darlene. My husbands aunt and his dad were both bee keepers. His aunt would always give us honey! I usually used it in tea, but cookies would have been a great idea too.
