My family’s favorite jello salad for any occasion:
RED HOT APPLESAUCE JELLO
½ c. cinnamon red hot candies
1 (3 oz) package cherry gelatin
1 c. water 2 c. applesauce
Dissolve cinnamon candies in water in a saucepan over medium heat. Mix in gelatin and allow to dissolve; remove from heat and stir applesauce into mixture. Pour into a serving dish and refrigerate until set, about 2 hours.
Although I made this recipe dozens of times, I got this recipe thanks to http://allrecipes.com/recipe/229387/red-hot-applesauce-jell-o/

My favorite show flavor for salads is orange.
Joan Kurth says
My favorite flavor for salads is strawberry. Add it dry to cottage cheese, cool whip and cut up strawberries. Yum!
Connie Saunders says
I have two favorites: orange and lime. I make lime salad with cream cheese, pineapple and nuts. I make an orange jello salad with Mandarin oranges, cottage cheese, cool whip, and marshmallows. Thanks for sharing your recipe.
Shelia Hall says
Peach ,orange and lime
Darlene Franklin says
Hmm, as usual, flavor choices across the spectrum. . .I’d agree with orange (or pineapple) with mandarins, pineapple, bananas. . .
Shannon Taylor Vannatter says
Pistachio. I love that green fluffy salad with pineapple, nuts, and marshmallows. We call it pistachio fluff. I also have a recipe that uses cottage cheese, any flavor jello, any fruit, and cool whip. Since I don’t like cottage cheese, I’ve discovered cherry covers up the taste best.
Melanie Backus says
Strawberry is hard to beat!
Darlene Franklin says
Shannon, that sounds like what I used to call Watergate salad. Yummy for sure. Melanie, I agree, strawberry holds up well in jello.
