Interview with Heroine (Lilly) from Cold Creek Mountain by Jamie Adams:
- Who said “I love you” first?
Hayden was the first to say the actual words “I love you”. I was so thrilled to hear those words come from his lips that I quickly reassured him that I love him as well. But, in a way I was the first to express my hearts true feelings. I just didn’t use the words “I love you.” Two days before we confessed our feelings for one another, I told him I needed him. At the time I was afraid for his life and couldn’t bear the thought of living without him.
- Who is most romantic?
Hayden is the most romantic of the two of us. He loves to go on walks no matter the weather. Whenever we are together, he reaches for my hand. He constantly goes out of his way to make me feel like a princess. I don’t know what I did to deserve such a kind-hearted man. I suspect he’s better at showing his feelings because our childhoods were so different. He has me beat when it comes to expressing tenderness and devotion, but I’m working on it. I have a great teacher.
- Who knew this is the one for me first?
We’ve talked about it and have determined Hayden was the one who knew I was the one for him before I was even aware of my need for him. I was preoccupied with securing a safe home for the children at the time but that isn’t the only reason for my slow response. For so many years I’d accepted the idea that I was meant to be single I’d written off love or marriage long ago.
- Where is the most romantic place the two of you have ever been?
The most romantic place we’ve been thus far is Crystal Lake. After returning to Timberline, Hayden took me for a moonlight ride to view the beautiful lake just outside of town. The full moon shimmered over the water as the sun’s pale pink glow faded in the western horizon. It was there that Hayden shared his dreams with me and first told me he loved me.

About the book – Cold Creek Mountain:
Lilly Fletcher’s last duty to her recently deceased employer is to deliver his orphaned grandchildren from Omaha, Nebraska to their uncle on Cold Creek Mountain. The final step of the journey requires securing a guide, which is not an easy task for a governess who prides herself on being independent.
Ex-scout Hayden Dawson has been grieving the tragic loss of his family for several years. When he’s asked to take a fancy governess from the city along with her wards up the mountain, he refuses at first since he has a ranch to run. However, outnumbered by his foreman and his meddling childhood teacher, he’s coerced out of retirement for one last trip.
When the ride up Cold Creek Mountain doesn’t go as planned, can these two wounded hearts work together to protect the children? Can Lilly find the strength to leave her wards behind or does God have a better path for her future?

I love the history and the settings of the story
Jamie Adams says
Me too, Shelia! I grew up watching old westerns with my dad. I enjoy reading and writing books about this time in our history. It just feels natural to me.
