What was the Most Romantic Thing Your Spouse Has Ever Done for You?
Hello, my name is Katy Lee. I write Inspirational Romantic Suspense stories for Love Inspired Suspense, but writing is relatively a new profession for me. I have always been a reader, but writing wasn’t something I tried my hand at until a few years ago. But we’re not here to talk about my writing career. We’re here to talk about my real-life romance with my husband. Except, my writing does have a something to do with the most romantic thing my spouse has done for me.
Over seventeen years ago Bill and I tied the knot in a beautiful old meeting house. I was a teacher at the time, and we were excited to start our lives together. Now years later, I will be the first to admit I am not the same person he married that long ago night. Becoming a writer meant a lot of changes in the dynamic of our marriage and in our home. My decision to take this path affected everyone. For me, I had found my calling, but in following that calling, I could have very well left my husband behind. Long hours isolated at my desk meant a closed door between us that was never there before. How would he respond?
Hurt, angry, confused…just to name a few.
But thankfully, only for a little while.
The most romantic thing my husband has ever done for me was to make the decision to get to know his wife all over again. A lot of spouses might say, “You’re the not the person I married” and throw in the towel. But Bill did not. He made the choice to learn about this writing thing his wife was getting into. He looked for ways he might be able to help me. He’s not a reader, but he’s great with the business side of things. He’s a great asset to have, and I would have never known this about him if he hadn’t made the decision to get to know his new wife, the writer. I love him so much more for it.
Question for Readers: Love is a choice. Is there one thing you could choose to do for a loved one to show them you love them? Would you be willing to share to encourage others?
Thank you for having me today! Look for the fourth book in the Stepping Stones Island, Maine Series, Permanent Vacancy, out now!

About the book – Permanent Vacancy:
When Gretchen Bauer begins renovating an old Victorian house to turn it into a bed-and-breakfast, she barely escapes several dangerous “accidents” at her home. Colm McCrae, host of the home improvement TV show helping her renovate, refuses to believe these aren’t on purpose. Could this be a harmful ploy by his boss to boost ratings? Yet with Colm’s smooth-talking Irish brogue, Gretchen wonders whether he could be involved. But with a whole town full of neighbors disgruntled about the inn bringing strangers to their shores, Gretchen has a list of more likely suspects. Now she must trust Colm if she wants to keep her new business venture from turning into a five-star death trap.

Come back June 22nd Linda Wood Rondeau!
Sarah says
Every day when my husband gets home from work I stop what I’m doing to greet him with a hug. It may not seem like a big thing, but it shows him he is the most important thing in my life. I also make him Earl grey tea before bed. He shows love for me by calling from work just to check in on my day. I am very blessed in my marriage.
Kristan Higgins says
Having seen Team Lee in action, I can say that the love is palpable between you two, Katy.
Abby Breuklander says
Oh this sounds so good, I can’t wait to read it!! As a single girl I’ve unfortunately been with some guys who didn’t know how to treat a girl. I’m bound and determined to never have to go through something like that ever again!
Karen says
My husband works so hard at his job. He had knee pain everyday and he works 12 hour shifts. If I could I would transfer that pain to me so he would not be in pain yet he never complains. He’s my hero!
Katy Lee says
Sarah, sounds lovely. Sounds like you both give your best effort, and that is the key.
Kristan, I’m not a big PDA person, but we definitely show our love is helpful actions. 🙂
Abby, You’ve got a good head on your shoulders. Never settle for being treated badly. That’s not the man for you. The right one will know he has something special in you.
Karen, I know what you mean about not wanting to see our loved ones suffer. I’m proud of you for being there for him in whatever way you can. <3
Terrill Rosado says
My love language is acts of service. My husband has taken that to heart and works to out-serve me. 🙂 On his days off from work he still gets up early, but he works around the house. He will clean the bathrooms, walk the dog, do the dishes and fold any laundry left in the dryer from the night before. This is all before I even wake up! I know how spoiled I am, but I do not take one moment for granted. The previous three years he was in the grips of his PTSD symptoms. It was a dark time for our family and I wasn’t sure we would ever get him back from that dark place. Praise God for the little things and His faithfulness!
Melanie Backus says
I try to always make myself available to my husband….whether it is running errands for him, listening when he needs to vent….I am there!

Jennifer Hibdon commented on Wedsnesday’s post. Since there wasn’t a giveaway that day, I combined the commentors with Monday and Friday’s drawing. Jennifer won the drawing for Katy’s book. I appreciate Katy for being my guest and everyone else for stopping by.
