Laura Jackson – Romantic Character Interview – Part 2 of 2

Shannon here: Laura Jackson shares insight into her characters’ romance from her latest Young Adult title, Worth the Time. • What’s the most romantic thing your hero ever did for your heroine?

Sutton is a gentleman, and Lindsey’s never had a guy treat her well. Those little things—holding doors, walking on the street side of the sidewalk, standing up for her, and surprising her with her favorite drink are all new to her.

• Do your hero and heroine have a favorite song?

I think “Begin Again” by Taylor Swift captures their relationship. Lindsey has never experienced pure love, so she’s wary of Sutton, who is innocent and shy. But, she’s ready to begin again.  

• What is your heroine’s favorite romantic vacation destination?

The Hamptons. That’s where she finally realizes how much God loves her, how He has time to run the universe and pursue her.

•  What simple gesture does your hero do that melts your heroine every time?

When Sutton smiles, Lindsey goes weak in the knees. Sutton is a serious guy who has overcome a hard childhood. He only relaxes and smiles when he’s working with the kids at Covington House and when he’s with Lindsey.

•  How soon after meeting the heroine did the hero know she was the one?

When he realizes there’s more to Lindsey than a cheerleading sweatshirt and a flirty comeback for everything he says, he begins to fall for her.
They’re in high school, so who knows if she’s the one. But, she’s the first girl he’s ever liked, a “distraction” as he calls her.

• What is the most caring thing your hero has ever done for your heroine?

He is the one who is there when she accepts Christ as her savior.
