Shannon here: Most of the authors I host, I’ve never met. Not true today. I’ve actually shared great meals and conversation with today’s guest, Rose Ross Zediker at ACFW conferences and we blog together on our group blog. Today Rose shares insight into her characters’ romance from her latest historical romance, The Widow’s Suitor. Comment on this post to enter the drawing for a copy. Deadline: Feb 15th, 11:59 pm central time. Here’s Rose:
- Where is the best place you can think of to find a mate?
Cora: I met my late husband at church, so I think church is the best place to meet a future spouse.
Luke: I wouldn’t know, I’m not a family man. Family life is overrated. I do like to hold Cora Anderson’s baby boy though.
- What type of features are you attracted to?
Cora: My Hank was strong and strapping.
Luke: Fancy women, I guess, like you’d find in the city wearing the latest styles.
- What’s the number one quality you’d require in a mate?
Cora: A strong faith in God.
Luke: A good mother like Cora Anderson. She has a fine baby boy.
- What’s the one habit or lifestyle that would make you run the other way?
Cora: Knowing they were an unbeliever. My son needs a fine Christian example to follow.
Luke: A devout believer.
- Where is the worst place you can think of to find a mate?
Cora: On the next homestead over from my property. I don’t trust our neighbor Clement Dykstra.
Luke: Anywhere. I told you, I’m not a family man.
- Where do you dream of spending your honeymoon?
Cora: With my son and the man I love sitting in front of the fire place in my homestead. I didn’t fight to prove it up to leave it.
Luke: I’ve never really thought about it.
Wow! There are many obstacles between these two. Can they come together to find love and happiness?
About Rose: Rose Ross Zediker started penning short pieces for children’s Sunday school take home papers. During the two plus decades she’s been writing, her byline’s been found on over sixty works of fiction, non-fiction and Sunday school curriculum. When she decided to try her hand at writing a book, it just seemed natural to write inspirational romances. The Widow’s Suitor is Rose’s fifth book and first attempt at a historical story.
Rose and her husband live in rural southeastern South Dakota where she works full-time at the University of South Dakota. Writing occupies many evenings and weekends but she balances both careers with relaxing hobbies, sewing, embroidery, quilting, reading and spoiling her granddaughters.

About the book – The Widow’s Suitor:
CORA ANDERSON ISN’T LOOKING FOR LOVE.The young widow is just trying to make a life on the prairie for herself and her newborn son. When handsome newcomer Luke Dow shows up at her cabin door, she soon relies on the man’s help with her homestead…and dares to dream of the future. Luke came to the small South Dakota town to build a hotel and make his fortune. But he never expected to care for anyone, let alone the beautiful Cora and her baby boy. When Cora’s land claim is challenged by a neighbor, Luke will do all he can to protect her and her home—and claim her heart.

Hey Rose,
So glad to have you!
Wow, talk about two of the most unlikely people as a couple. I can see trouble coming their way. This looks really good. Beautiful cover.

A great interview. I would love to read how Cora and Luke come together.
Sounds like a good book!
Nice interview. Luke and Cora have a lot of differences to get thru.
DebH,
I’m glad you popped over. Shannon, had lots of fun interview questions for characters to answer.
Katrina,
I really liked the cover for this book too. Believe it or not, author’s aren’t always happy with their covers. I thought the man looked like Pa Ingles.
Glad you stopped by.
Thank you, Brenda. And THANK YOU for all the post sharing’s and mentions you do on Facebook. I can’t wait to repay you!
Britney,

This book looks good! It will be another year before my girl can apply for a driver’s license…waiting out in the car is a great time to read!
Wendy!
That is great we are from the same area. Usually when I say I’m from South Dakota, most people jump right to the Black Hills area. I was raised in Westfield, IA so I’ve live is this area my entire life, too. I worked in downtown Sioux City for years….years!
Glad you stopped by.
Merry,
Good luck in the drawing!
Pat,
Reading is a great use of your ‘waiting’ time.
Thanks for stopping by the blog.
Hello Rose. I really enjoyed the interview with your characters. I think Luke is fooling himself about not being a family with all of the attention he’s giving to Cora’s baby boy. And he did say he wanted a devout believer. I’m sure he knows Cora is that. I think this will be a really good book. Congrats to you. I would love to win it. Thanks Shannon for having Rose here.
