Here’s Terri:
On May 28, 1988, I married my college sweetheart in an evening ceremony in Sacramento, California. The next morning we flew off for our honeymoon on the beautiful, mid-pacific island of Kaui, part of the Hawaiian Islands. Nicknamed ‘the Garden Isle’ because of the tropical rainforest spread out over a good portion of the island, we landed in a verdant paradise. The terrain ranges from lush foliage, dramatic cliffs to sandy beaches, providing a variety of activities–hiking, surfing, helicopter rides, snorkeling and relaxing by the pool or at the ocean’s edge.
We made the popular and beautiful Poipu beach located on the south end of the island as our home base. The surf was gentle and the sun warm. When we weren’t snorkeling or laying out on the beach, we rented a car to explore the island. There is one main road connecting the North Shore and the West Side of the island. We stopped frequently for sweet slices of fresh pineapple and cold snow cones. We took an ocean tour along the cliffs where dolphins swam along side the boat. We hiked into the Waimea Canyon. And we swam with sea turtles. The pace of the island was slow and relaxing, the perfect way to spend our honeymoon.

Although I have enjoyed seeing my husband’s homeland of Puerto Rico and they have always been beautiful vacations, I live in a gorgeous part of the Pacific Northwest and love to stay-cation here. I live within a short drive of both the Pacific Ocean and the Cascade Mountain Range. There is no lack of activities (hiking, swimming, skiing, and touring) to do around here.
I have a winner! Jo won the drawing. I appreciate Terri for being my guest and everyone else for stopping by.
I don’t know that I have a favorite vacation spot. But one that sticks in my my mind was a 3 day trip to Lake Como Italy. We went to visit our friends in Switzerland and they surprised us.
