Shannon here: Contemporary Romance author, Toni Shiloh shares how she met her husband. Comment or answer the question at the end of the post to enter Friday’s drawing. Deadline: June 3rd, 11:59 pm central time. Here’s Toni:
I joined the Air Force right out of high school. At eighteen, I was prepared to see the world and all it had to offer. I had no thoughts of marriage or settling down. After struggling through my technical training, I was reclassed (issued another job). Fortunately, I passed the training and received my assignment for my first duty station: RAF Lakenheath, UK.
I was ecstatic to be going to England and a little apprehensive. It would be the farthest from home I’ve ever been. I said good-bye to my mom and sister and headed off on a plane.
After a long night and long flight, I happily exited the airplane. I had a sponsor waiting for me to show me the sites of the town and the air base I would be stationed out. My fellow airman took me to my dorm room so that I could rest before dinner.
It was their tradition to take the newbies to dinner and meet the fellow airmen they would be working with. At the appointed time, I was showered, dressed, and ready to have fun. But one smile from a handsome stranger sealed my fate. I met my husband at that dinner and we’ve been together ever since.
In my story, Finding Love, Delaney and Luke have an interesting meeting. You see, Luke has traveled to Delaney’s hometown to make amends. Sure, she finds him good looking, and he’s more than mesmerized. But neither one wants to fall in love.
I always find it amazing how people meet and chose the path of love.

About the novella – A Proxy Wedding: Carly James values loyalty and friendship above all. So when her best friend calls asking her to be a proxy bride, she says, ‘yes.’ How hard can it be to say ‘I do’ so that her best friend can be with the one she loves? Only, Carly never counted on the feelings that began to swirl around with the proxy groom.
Damien Nichols likes life lined up from A to Z, but when his best friend calls in a favor, disorder begins to reign. Instead of taking a quick flight to the proxy wedding, he has to take a road trip with the proxy bride. Carly’s free-spirit attitude bumps heads with his meticulous approach to life. As Damien discovers the woman underneath the carefree façade, his emotions become involved.
Will love become real at A Proxy Wedding?

Toni Shiloh says
Thank you so much for having me!
Shannon Taylor Vannatter says
Hey Toni,
Glad to have you.
So far, my favorite meeting is in Melissa Tagg’s From the Start. I don’t want to ruin it for anyone who hasn’t read it. But it’s a great meeting–one that made me wish I’d written it.
Toni Shiloh says
Yes! I’ve read it. It’s a fantastic meeting. 🙂
Shelia Hall says
I thought it was cool how Jenna meets Garrett in Rodeo Song!
Shannon Vannatter says
Thanks Shelia. They’re meeting was based on a dream I had back in the late eighties after I went to a Michael Bolton concert. I still love his voice.
Melanie Backus says
The meeting in From the Start is great!
