How did you and your spouse meet?
When I met my husband, I was in cahoots with my boyfriend to find a date for Melissa, a friend who lived in my college dorm. My boyfriend, Tim, said he knew this “really nice guy named Jimmy” that he thought would be perfect for Melissa. Feeling rather devious, we arranged for the two of them to sit with us in the cafeteria, but when Jimmy walked by and Tim introduced us I thought What in the world am I doing with Tim when this Jimmy person is walking around single? Call me crazy, but by the end of the day, I knew I wanted to marry him. It took him a little longer, but I snagged him in the end!
Tell us about the most romantic thing your spouse ever did for you.
I’ll never forget the morning my husband woke me with breakfast in bed. Along with the tastiest limp toast and cold eggs ever, he announced that we were going to spend the day in Luxembourg in celebration of our second anniversary. We lived in Germany at the time, so Luxembourg was just an hour’s drive north. Without a map, a tour book, or any plan of what exactly we were going to do when we got there, we took off for Luxembourg. Among other things, we ended up visiting the Vianden Castle, a feudal manor built in the 9th century and one of the most romantic castles we’ve been to. Maybe it was the classic Cinderella look, or maybe it was the mile-long dark forest trail we walked through alone to get to the gate. I like to think it was the hunky man holding my hand all the way there. All this after he came off his 12-hour night shift. For me.
About April: A military spouse, April has performed the art of homemaking all over the world. Currently, she lives in Georgia with her children, while her husband serves a tour in the Middle East. A home school mom, she fills her mornings talking fractions and phonics with her two sweet kiddos. In her free time, April enjoys reading, gardening, and DIY.
