The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand. Psalms 37: 23, 24
These verses are so appropriate for every day life. We stumble and fall. But we’re not down to stay. Almighty God, the loving God of the universe holds us in His hand. Who better to pick us up, dust us off and set us back on the path of life?
Which is why I write. Like so many other people, I’ve been through hard times in my life. Too many to list here. But God never deserts me. He’s walking beside me ready to reach out His steady hand when I falter.
I believe God created me to tell stories. I wrote my first book at ten. Thanks to my sentimental mother, I still have it. Later, I entertained the neighborhood with my handwritten tales. Sentimental me, I still have those notebooks. One of those stories is now the loosely written inspiration for the fourth book in my current series.
Fast forward years later after marrying a wonderful Christian man and raising two children. I’m still dabbling with writing. God nudged me to get serious and work toward publication to share my encouraging stories in a discouraging world. My journey took years. Many years longer than I anticipated. So many rejections I lost count. An interested publisher discontinued the entire line just before they offered me a contract. My first agent lost her battle with cancer. I questioned if I’d understood God’s direction after so many setbacks. But He kept picking me up and putting me back on the path. In His perfect timing, He guided me to a wonderful publisher who is perfect for my books.
My stories mirror real-life struggles so many of us encounter. My characters doubt or wonder if God still hears or cares when they face trials. I want to encourage my readers not to give up. To keep trusting God no matter how bad the circumstances. God never leaves us. Never forsakes us. Never lets go of our hands.
My mantra: Never ever, ever, ever give up.
Reader Question: Is there a goal you’re doggedly pursuing or have attained after years of trying?
Share about your journey.

About the book – A Troubling Suggestion (Book 2 – Troubles of the Heart series)
Will past secrets build an insurmountable wall between Clarisse and Luke?
Clarisse Matthews still grieves the tragic loss of her fiancé and doubts she’ll ever love anyone again. Particularly if she has to divulge the secret abolitionist ideas she keeps hidden deep inside that only her beloved knew.
After the lady Luke Williams loved spurned him and married another man, he will never risk giving his heart to another woman. Especially not to Clarisse who had to have known about her best friend’s ruse and helped the woman conceal it from Luke. He doesn’t need a lady by his side to manage this family’s plantation or forge a path to become an attorney.
But when Luke’s cousin is deceived by a rogue, who only Luke and Clarisse know the whole truth about, they form a reluctant alliance to protect his cousin. Their feigned attraction grows into genuine love. But will the differences between them become a wall too tall to climb or can they find a way to go around?
