Shannon here: Cynthia Hickey shares insight into her real life romance plus a chance to win her latest cozy mystery, Anything for a Mystery, print or e-book. Comment or answer the question at the end of the post to enter the drawing. Deadline: Jan 30th, 11:59 pm central time. Here’s Cynthia:
- What’s the most romantic thing your spouse has ever done for you?
He cut a hole in a book I’d never heard of on our 10th Christmas together and gave me a diamond wedding set. Totally unexpected and very romantic.
- Do you and your spouse have a favorite song?
Yes, by the Beatles. Hubby used to sing this to me when we were dating.
- Do you and your spouse have a favorite romantic vacation destination?
Hawaii. What’s more romantic than time in the tropics together?
- What simple gesture does your spouse do that melts you every time?
He still takes my hand when we’re walking through a parking lot. That simple protective gesture gets me every time.
- What is the most caring thing your spouse has ever done for you?
He knew how much I wanted to attend a writer’s conference and for Christmas 2006, he gave me the registration papers. I’ve attended every year since.
- What is the most caring thing you’ve ever done for your spouse?
Loving his children as my own. Not always easy, but I knew when I married him that he came with three children.
- Where did you and your spouse go for your honeymoon?
We took a 3-day cruise out of Los Angeles where I found out I get terribly seasick. Hasn’t prevented me from wanting to go another, though!

About the book – Anything for a Mystery: Stormi Nelson, best-selling romance author, moved into her huge Victorian house in the private community of Oak Meadows Estates. When her agent tells her that her characters are becoming too cardboard and that she needs to get out and mingle with people, she comes up with the idea of a Neighborhood Watch Program. The only problem is … she’s the only member. On her first night of patrol, she stumbles over a dead body, meets a hunky detective, who happens to be her neighbor and clearly frustrated with her, and her mother, sister, niece and nephew arrive to shake up Stormi’s peaceful life.
As she is immersed ever deeper into the mystery surrounding a neighbor’s murder, she decides to change writing tactics and write a romantic mystery based on her experiences. What follows is a frolicking good time as Stormi finds herself the nosiest neighbor of them all. Can she find the killer before she becomes the next victim?

Ohhhh, I have so ‘many’ favorites, lol. Let’s see, Donna Reed Show, Father Knows Best, Dennis the Menace, Leave it to Beaver. Then the ‘newer’ ones like The Walton’s, Little Houe on the Prairie, The Cosby Show (I loved the show and it is still a good family show you just to put what Bill Cosby did in his ‘personal’ life to the side, pray for him [he needs those prayers desparately] and watch the actual stories of each show).
