Diane Dean White – Real Life Romantic Interview – Part 1 of 1

• What’s the number one quality you require in a mate?

Oneness and complete dedication, and a true walk with the Lord. Something I was very fortunate to find in Stephen.

•  What’s the number two quality you require in a mate?

LOVE for each other, I realize love becomes stronger as couples mature and grow in their marriage. I could never have imagined I’d love my husband more and more with each year. I think young love is wonderful, but it becomes more beautiful as the years pass.

• Do you and your spouse have a favorite song?

Yes, and it’s from the fifties and a movie I loved when a young girl. We had the words from the song inscribed inside our wedding bands along with the date of our marriage. When I was pregnant for our third child my hands became swollen, and I had to have the ring cut and some gold added. It was a wide band and again the same words were inscribed. We try to watch the movie on or around our anniversary each year. It’s called “Friendly Persuasion.”

•  How soon after meeting your spouse did you know he/she was the one?

I was fortunate to realize I had the best guy shortly after we met. We met in March and married in July. It’s been forty-one years this past July and I’m still in love with the best man ever.

•  How soon after meeting you did your spouse know you were the one?

I think it was mutual. And maybe after the third date we made plans for future dates and meeting one another’s families. We lived over an hour a part and I worked full time as did he. I’d say we both knew, when we were at a driving range, and he was trying to instruct me in the finer points of the game. Another couple was with us and they just shook their heads. We were so love struck with each other.

•  Who is most romantic, you or your spouse?

I think we are both romantic, in different ways. We leave love notes around to find, and enjoy candlelight anniversary dinners, at home or in a favorite restaurant. He brings me flowers, candy, jewelry and cards. He started to bring home small gifts when we were younger, and I was surrounded with three little kids. Sometimes a simple violet or favorite artist on a new LP…I still hold dear a small glass box with gold trim and footing, that held a gardenia surrounded with seashells. The gardenia is gone but I’ve added little things and have kept that box for over forty-years now, and it means the world to me. Simple things are the best.

•  What is the most caring thing your spouse has ever done for you?

He’s constantly doing ‘caring things’ for me. He’s helped me through some health issues, and his walk with the Lord and our prayer life… knowing his faith is so strong, and that he supports me and prays for me, has been a big part of our marriage. We are three with the Lord, not just two.

About Diane: Diane started her writing at an early age, but it wasn’t until her husband’s work took them to a small southern town she wrote her first column, “Yankee Viewpoint’s” for a local newspaper. Returning to her home-state of Michigan, she did stringer work over the years, ancestral history, and donor appeal letters for non-profit organizations. Diane self-published two books in the early 2000’s, and she became a columnist for a weekly magazine, for four years. She is the author of over three-hundred short stories, and her book On a Summer Night is available from the publisher and will soon be online with all major booksellers. She and hubby, Stephen, have been married for forty-one years, and they are the parents of three grown children and three grand-gals.They reside in the sunshine state of Florida.

 About the book – On A Summer Night: A fusion of past thoughts with fragrances and salty air played in the recesses of Kate’s mind. More seagulls flew in formation against the blue sky that now showed gray clouds, with splashes of pink. She took her husband’s strong hand, full of love and warmth.
