Our First Kiss:
My husband and I will celebrate our 37th anniversary the day after Christmas, this year. We don’t have a traditional dating story like most do. David and I met each other at college. I was a junior, and David was a sophomore at the time. I had a car and lived off campus. Because I had a vehicle, I was asked to pick up two guys who lived on campus to take them to an evangelism meeting that was being held at my apartment with my two roommates.
David got in the back seat of my vehicle when I picked him up. Later he told me the first thing that attracted him was my smile. Soon after that, we became good friends as we attended activities at our Christian Fellowship group on campus and hung out as a group with other friends. We enjoyed spending time getting to know each other. When asked if we were a couple, we both were like, “What are you talking about? We’re just friends.” I think God blinded us to our growing relationship.
At the end of that school year, Christian Fellowship had a final activity at a campground not too far away from the university we attended. At the time, David and I were both blind without our glasses. We were playing volleyball as a group and David accidentally had his glasses broken and couldn’t see. So, it was my self-appointed role to lead him wherever we needed to go.
Later that night, we found ourselves alone by the campfire and started talking about the future and where we saw ourselves. We both mentioned that we couldn’t imagine a future without the other one in it. I guess you could say the lightbulb finally came on of how important we were to each other. 🙂
Not long after that, we were hiking with a youth group from David’s home church. As we sat alone at a campfire again, David proposed to me and also kissed me. I had never been kissed before and had often envisioned what it would be like. Needless to say, it wasn’t at all the way I had built up in my mind. All I could think was, ‘I waited all this time for that?’ Chuckle.
I’ve come around since then. 🙂
This was the first time David proposed to me. There’s more to our story, but I’ll leave it for another time.
I did have one of my heroines, in one of my stories, have the same reaction I did to my first kiss. 🙂

About the book – Convincing Lou:
How hard can it be to round up one delinquent groom?
Ellie Lou Williams will do just about anything to save her ranch, even going undercover as a man to round up a fella who is late to his own wedding. The reward will more than cover the money she owes the bank and solve all her problems.
Caleb Dawson agrees to one final job as a deputy US Marshal before he starts his new life away from the trail and tracking criminals. What he isn’t counting on is a mysterious bounty hunter who’s determined to undermine his every step.
Will one reach their goal first? Or will they learn to lean on God and work together?

That is a great first kiss story! I don’t have a story of my first kiss, but on my first date with my now husband, we went to the riverfront and spent about an hour walking around and talking. The day before, I shared my location with my best friend because I wanted someone to know where I was on my date. My friend called the day after our date to see if I was okay. My location on her phone was about 10 feet in the river. The riverfront had an overlook that stood out that far, and that is where we were on our date.

What a great story, Lisa. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by.

Glad to have you, Jodie.
My future husband and I had been going together for a few weeks. We weren’t going anywhere actually because I was only fifteen, but that’s what we called it back then. So since I wasn’t allowed to date yet, we only saw each other at school. So after a few weeks, no kiss because PDA’s – public displays of affection – on campus weren’t allowed.
One Saturday, I spent the day with my friend, who had her license. That night, there was a pie auction at the school and I planned to see my boyfriend there. I ate Daritos at lunch and after the third one I put in my mouth, I said, I’ll probably get my first kiss tonight and I’ll have Darito breath.
Sure enough, after the pie auction, my future hubby walked me to my friend’s car and kissed me. It rocked my world, but I was worried about being garlicy the whole time.
