Interview with the heroine of Something Beautiful, Lauren:
-
Are you open to your own romance?
My ex-boyfriend died in a car accident and now I suffer from PTSD. I have a lot of healing to do before my heart can love again. I wasn’t looking for love when I met Antony, but one thing led to another and now I can’t live without him. We have a lot of obstacles standing in our way, but I’m trusting that true love will prevail.
-
What’s the number one quality you’d require in a mate?
Honesty. Once someone betrays me, I find it hard to trust them again. I need a guy who is totally honest.
-
What’s the number two quality you’d require in a mate?
I’m not interested in a guy that I have to worry about. He shouldn’t have a dangerous career and can’t be the type of guy who gets into fights. I want someone laid back and predictable.
-
Where is the worst place you can think of to find a mate?
I would think that worst place to find a mate would be in a bar. I don’t drink and don’t plan to start and I don’t want a guy who does.
-
What’s the one habit or lifestyle that would make you run the other way?
Let me answer that from my parent’s point of view. I’m not racist and have never been. My dad and step-mother expect me to marry money, since they have money. When I met and fell in love with Antony, who’s Hispanic and from the wrong side of the tracks, I knew they wouldn’t approve. Now, it seems to be me and Antony against the world.
-
Where do you dream of getting married?
I dream of getting married at the beach, my favorite place in the world, and where I went on one of my first dates with Antony.

I feel for you! I think I would never tell my kids who they need to marry. That is lead by God. It shouldn’t matter what race or if they are poor or rich. It is all about love and being able to trust this person with your life. I know God has someone for you. My in laws said Our marriage wouldn’t work because I was poor and his family had money so they think. But it is 35 years later and we are still happily married. I will pray for you. I would love to read your book.
Blessings

Just a note – Dawn is happily married. She’s shared her real life romance before on my blog. Glad she doesn’t have the problems her characters have.

Hey, Shannon!
Thanks for the comment. Yes, I’m happily married. July will be 18 years. After dating guys who weren’t right for me, I gave it all up to God and said, “You know who you have for me. Please send him.” God had to do some healing in my heart from my last relationship before sending me my current husband. God knows what we need and and he’s faithful to give us who is his will for our lives.
Something Beautiful was a lot of fun to write. My hero and heroine went through a lot on the way to happily ever after.
