About the book – The Snow Globe:
Victor Petersheim has left the Amish and works on a river boat on the Mississippi River, spending three months on the river then having three months off. During his off-work months he returns home to his Amish community and helps out on his grandparents’ farm. When he returns home after his most recent absence, he discovers his grossmammi has developed health problems and they’ve hired Esther Beachy to be a “mother’s helper.”
Victor is unsettled by this woman living in their home, but has to accept it. Esther loves listening to Victor’s grandmother’s stories and while puttering around in a store while the grossmammi’s in the hospital, she discovers a snow globe that depicts an area where the Petersheims used to live. She buys it as a gift for the grossmammi to cheer her up during her hospitalization. Victor is touched by Esther’s gift and her care for his grossmammi, and strives to be friendlier. Will Esther’s gentle heart draw him back to the community? Or will he return to the river once again?

I remember having many of the small snow globes over the years when I was a child and loved seeing the snow falling on whatever happened to be inside. They are just so ‘COOL’!

I bought one for my sister Christmas present, it contains a fairy dressed in violet dress (my sister favorite color).when I see it , it seems to go into the fantasy stories..
ciao, marta
I love watching the snow flurries in the one that I had some one else wanted it so I let them have it. It was also a music box. But that is okay they didn’t have much.
I see all the beautiful snow globes in the stores. Love making the snow float down on whatever is inside the globe. Haven’t ever owned one.
My mother had quite a few, but they didn’t survive. I bet my grandkids would love them.
I had a snow globe when I was a young girl. I loved watching the snowflakes falling down on a winter scene. I don’t know whatever happened to it but it brings back memories thinking of it.
We have a snow globe we put on our mantle above the fireplace every Christmas season.
Snowglobes are so magical . I still love to turn them upside down and see them snowing. I read many books as a child about snowglobes and got transported to magical worlds. Books do that though, transport me to a special and magical place.
Yes, I have many snow globes that are mostly Christmas themed. My son loves to get me one almost every year for my birthday, which is also in December. Then I get to enjoy it over the Christmas holiday season. I have a couple of favorites. One has a santa hat on top and a picture inside of it that is of all four of my children. Another favorite is the one that started it all for me and is a dark maroon color with a cross inside that my oldest daughter got for my birthday long ago. They are relaxing to me, but my favorite thing about them is thinking about the child who gave them to me. I always write their name and the year that they gave it to me on the bottom. Thanks for the chance to win a copy of The Snow Globe!
I had several snow globes when I was younger, but I don’t remember what they were.
I collected several Christmas snow globes years ago.
I love snow globes and water globes. I just think they have a magical quality about them. I used to have a precious moments andd it had butterflies floating around instead of snow. LOVED that. Snow globes are just fun, remind me of my childhood when I wanted one so bad but couldn’t have one…and again..they are just magical. 🙂
I have several Christmas snow globes packed away in the attic. I really can’t remember what they look like. I’d hoped to get all my many boxes of Christmas decorations down this year, but other obligations have interfered, so I doubt I will get that done. I do love snow globes.
Can i still enter please?
I remember snow globes from years ago. I haven’t seen one in a very long time.
Yes, it’s a Christmas tree with a snowman. I like snowmen, I can leave them up for months 🙂
I’ve always loved snow globes, though I don’t have any now, I have in the past. I remember seeing one in a movie. I don’t remember what movie, but it had a little girl in the globe holding a globe with a little girl in it holding a globe and on and on. I thought that was fascinating. I’d love to find a real one like that.
I have a winner! Jackie Tessnair won the drawing. I appreciate Laura for being my guest and everyone else for stopping by.
