Here’s an excerpt of the first time Collin Elliott and Catherine meet:
Angus nodded. “But he’s got a lot of experience under his belt. His father was a captain, and Elliott started as a cabin boy on his ship and worked his way up. He’s even sailed around Cape Horn and navigated through the Strait of Magellan north of Tierra del Fuego.”
“I’ve heard sailing is rough in that area. Lots of ships haven’t made it.” A grimace glinted in the banker’s shrewd eyes.
“That’s true, but this young man was up to the challenge. Weren’t you, Elliott?”
The banker’s frown deepened. “Elliott? Surely not Collin Elliott. Isn’t he the one that lost your ship in a storm several months ago?”
Collin cringed inside. I knew I shouldn’t have come here. He turned away, not wanting to continue as a part of this conversation. His gaze roved over the crowd looking for even one familiar, or friendly, face. Then his eyes alighted on a gorgeous woman standing in the doorway. Curly red hair caught up on top of her head in an elaborate style had shiny decorations woven in. Her beauty stole his breath and held it captive before he realized this sophisticated woman had to be the pampered McKenna daughter. The green ball gown nearly swept the floor and nipped her waist, showcasing a figure with curves in all the right places. Must have been a while since he saw her because she looked much older than he remembered. Is she just now arriving at her own birthday party? Catherine McKenna was shadowed by a woman who had to be at least a decade older than she was. With her show of deference, she must be her lady’s maid. Of course, she would have one. Another woman hurried toward them. She was even older, her smile wide as she grasped the guest of honor’s gloved hands. No smile of welcome graced the younger woman’s lips.
Haughty. That was his impression of her. Holding her head high, she stepped farther into the room, but she didn’t look as if she expected to enjoy her ball. Icicles dripped from her demeanor. He could feel the chill from where he stood across the room. Like an iceberg that was too close to a ship.
Collin had to find a way to leave the party soon after dinner. He had no desire to spend time with the Ice Princess. Especially not to dance with her as he assumed all the men would be expected to do. No siree! He would jump ship when the opportunity first presented itself.

About the book – Catherine’s Pursuit: The search for her sisters will become a spiritual journey for the entire family.
Raised by her father, Catherine McKenna has never lacked for anything, surrounded by people to take care of her every need. On her eighteenth birthday she discovers that not only did her mother die when she was born, but she has two identical sisters. Although her father vowed not to look for his daughters, Catherine made no such promise. Setting out on her own with one clue and her maid in tow, she’s determined to find her sisters.
Collin Elliott has seen better days. After losing his ship to a violent and unexpected storm, he is trying to recover–physically and emotionally. When Angus McKenna sends him to find, follow, and protect his daughter, he wants nothing more than to finish his task and return home. Can he help her find her sisters?
And will the discoveries they make along the way teach them both what’s most important in life?
“A heartwarming tale filled with history, adventure, faith, and love.” –Lisa Wingate, bestselling and award-winning author of Dandelion Summer and Firefly Island
