Shannon here: Lena Nelson Dooley shares her first date with her husband. Comment on any post dated March 21 – 26 for a chance to win a copy of her book: Love Finds You in Golden New Mexico. Deadline, midnight central time March 26. Here’s Lena:
I’d had only one blind date, and I hated it, so I vowed not to go on another one ever again. And I’d had a relationship that had soured, and I was the one who got hurt. However, a friend convinced me to go on a blind date with James. I promised I’d be nice to the guy for that one date, but then this friend had to promise not to try to get me to date again. James was different from any man I’d dated. I liked the way he showed me respect and didn’t make any moves on me. And he was cute and fun to be around. At the end of the date, he asked if he could see me again. I said sure. Then he said if he came back, he might be hard to get rid of. I told him he didn’t know me enough to say that and he said he could already tell. It almost scared me off completely. However, we were married three months and three days later, and that was over forty-six years ago.

About the book: All that glitters is not gold. It’s 1890, and Golden, New Mexico, is a booming mining town where men far outnumber women. So when an old wealthy miner named Philip Smith finds himself in need of a nursemaid, he places an ad for a mail-order bride—despite the protests of his friend Jeremiah. Hoping to escape a perilous situation back East, young Madeleine Mercer answers the ad and arrives in town under a cloud of suspicion. But just as she begins to win over Philip—and Jeremiah himself—the secrets she left behind threaten to follow her to Golden…and tarnish her character beyond redemption.
Come back March 23 for Catherine West’s romantic real life interview and a chance to win her book: Yesterday’s Tomorrow.
