Real Life Interview:
- Do you and your spouse have a favorite song?
We have several favorite songs that have special meaning in our lives and marriage. I’ll stick to one here –The song NEVER SURRENDER by Cory Hart. My husband and I met in college in an acting class and became friends first, however, our feelings soon deepened but we were both scared and unsure, yet we wanted to be together. The year was 1985, I had just turned 21 and Cory Hart’s song had hit #1 on the charts. This song became the mantra we adopted into our relationship. We would never surrender to fear, we would never surrender to disappointment or hurt feelings. We were committed to staying together. At our wedding, Never Surrender was our first dance song.
- Who said, “I love you” first, you or your spouse?
My husband did. I was very surprised but also very giddy. We just celebrated our 27th anniversary and are still deeply in love.
- Where did you and your spouse go for your honeymoon?
We went to Kaui and stayed right on the beach at Poipu Beach. We’d never been to this island. It was so beautiful, very laid back and friendly. We haven’t been back to Kaui though we’ve been to Oahu, Maui and the Big Island many times. Maybe for our thirtieth anniversary we’ll return to Kaui.
Character Interview with FBI agent Sami Bennett and RCMP inspector Drew Kelley:
- What’s the most romantic thing your hero ever did for your heroine?
Drew believed in Sami in a way that no one else had before. Having his support made her feel cared for and special.
- Who said, “I love you” first, your hero or your heroine?
Technically Sami said it first, though they both had hinted at their feelings but were too afraid to admit to how they felt aloud.
- If you hero and heroine end up married, where will they go on their honeymoon?
This is a romance so of course they end up together. They honeymoon in the Caribbean with crystal blue waters, sunshine and sand where they can relax and enjoy the beginning of their life together.
Question for readers: Do you have a favorite song that has special meaning to you?
Recipe:
In 2011 my family trekked across Europe to visit dear friends in the Ukraine. It was a lovely visit to a lovely country that had seen so much turmoil over the years and still does today. Our friends made a tasty dessert that I couldn’t stop eating. Thankfully my friend Vika gave me the recipe and I’m passing it on to you.
Summer Fruit Treat
Ingredients:
6 eggs
1 ½ cup of sugar
1 ½ cup of flour
assorted cut up fruit: peaches, apples, plums, strawberries, nectarines, pears
Pre-heat oven to 350. Divide egg yolk from whites. Mix yolk with sugar, add flour and mix. Whip egg whites then add to mixture. Fill the bottom of a 9×11 glass pan with the fruit then pour mixture over the fruit. Bake 30-40 mins, or until the mixture turns golden brown. Serve with ice cream or whip cream.

About the book – Joint Investigation:
LONE AGENT
Under other circumstances, FBI agent Samantha Bennett might welcome a bit of backup—but not from an overprotective Mountie. She’s been on the trail of a serial killer for six months and no one has ever taken the case seriously…until now.
When Royal Canadian Mounted Police inspector Drew Kelley saves her life, he decides that the hunt for “Birdman” is his problem, too.
Together they begin a cross-continent chase to stop the madman before he strikes again. However, Samantha fears her growing feelings for the lawman may weaken her focus, or worse—put Drew directly in the killer’s sights…

Marjorie, I’m an Elvis fan too! As a kid I loved to watch the movies he starred and sang in. Viva Las Vegas is my favorite.

I love the Love Inspired Suspense books, too and I also spent my honeymoon 26 years ago on Kauai! It’s such a lovely place!
The song, “Give Thanks” spoke to me a lot when I was going through a trial in the first few years of our marriage. It pointed me back to God and reminded me to be grateful in all circumstances.
Terrill Rosado says
Lyrically, our song doesn’t have very significant meaning. It is more the nostalgia of when we were first dating – The Sign by Ace of Base. tlhcoupon(at)hotmail(dot)com

Thank you Shannon. Congratulations Marjorie.
Sorry to be absent my internet went down.
Lots of great songs. Its so interesting to me how songs and smells both evoke emotions and memories. God truly made humans as complex creatures.
