With this kiss…
As kisses go… my husband, Danny and I’s first kiss could only be described as the stuff fairy tales are made of. That’s right those princes and princesses sharing True Love’s First Kiss had nothing on us. Our kiss, our glorious kiss tipped the heat index scale.
It was sensuous. Romantic. It left us breathless, feverish.
Just like in the movies.
Cue the music…
There he stood before, the moonlight dancing in his eyes. A soft breeze fingered the soft waves of his hair.
He’d brought me home from our date and walked me to the front door. I wondered was this the night the night? Was he going to kiss me? I wanted to smell my breath but… Every fiber of my being thrummed with anticipation. I felt the warmth where his fingers wound in mine radiating from his body, heating mine.
I looked into his deep brown eyes. They whispered tenderness. Want. Hunger. They seemed to search my very soul. Could he tell I wanted him to kiss me?
He leaned closer. I sucked a deep breath. He caressed my shoulders and then rubbed the back of his hand along my cheek. I breathed out slowly.
This was it. True Love’s First Kiss.
He leaned closer, touched his forehead to mine. “Ah, honey,” he said softly, before he angled his head and pressed his lips to mine. Fireworks split the night in my mind. I bent my leg up and lost my shoe. My heart nearly skittered to a stop as his arms wound their way around me and hugged me closer. His lips feasting on mine.
I ran my hands up his neck and plunged my fingers into this thick brown hair, holding him there lest his lips left mine. Wanting more.
Then I woke up…
Okay, in truth, our first kiss would not go down in the annals of history as the most romantic.
If you read my previous post on this site, I said that Danny came to give me my first kiss for my sixteenth birthday. Due to circumstances, I didn’t get my birthday gift.
That wasn’t to come till six weeks later.
After we started dating, the progress toward our first kiss went something like this.
Week one–stolen glances and smiles. We sat a little closer.
Week two — after several near misses and finger grazes, we held hands. Whoo hoo.
Week three — he slipped his arm on the back of my chair. Grazed my shoulder.
Week four — he slipped his arms around my shoulders and pulled me closer.
Around week five — he started to kiss my forehead and cheek.
By week six — I started to kiss his cheek.
He’d tease me and say, “If you move just one inch right (or left) it’d be really nice.” Or… “I’m going to turn my head real quick one day and finally get that kiss on the lips.”
Finally, I decided it was time. I was going to surprise him. We drove home from school, me crushed beside him, my legs straddling the middle floor hump. I kissed his cheek and slid out, then walked around to his window for that one last kiss before he left for work. I leaned in and waited till I knew he was going to kiss me goodbye. He shot for my cheek and I turned real quick and his lips touched mine. Just a short sweet peck.
The surprise look on his face was priceless. He grinned. “Maybe we can do that again sometime.”
Then he winked and sped out of the driveway.
And that was our first kiss.
Nothing much to write home about… or maybe, just maybe… it was the stuff fairy tales are made of.

It was kind of funny, but at the time hubby started wondering if I was ever going to kiss him. He read this and assures me that the time it took was much much longer, at least six months. I told him I wasn’t that pathetic. He says he’s right. I suppose we’ll just leave it at that. Of course I am right…

Reading your comment had me thinking of the girls who practiced kissing with the mirror or kissed their posters and covers of their teen magazines. ( I myself didn’t do a lot of that. I did day dream though) But realistic kisses are far better than dreams.

What? You didn’t believe that my now husband and I would have such a lovely first kiss. I think if someone would have cued music I would have jumped out of my skin. I sure would have looked around to see what was going on and the kiss would have been lost.

Let’s just say I was a little skeptical at first, and its all information I didn’t want to picture my Aunt and Uncle in that kind of situation but I read the whole thing, the realistic first kiss was way better than a steamy first kiss!

However, I cannot help but notice a bit of expressive apprehension regarding your first kiss, by your second description––one coming not from the shyness of a young girl, but, possibly, from a mild form of philematophobia, possibly? 😉
Maybe an unsettled nerve of kissing facial hair, perhaps.
In the case I may be on to something here (only reflecting upon reader response), don’t worry, you’re not alone.
My wife (a lover of kissing) is not an admirer of lips scouring facial armpit, either. Not that your husband has an armpit face (by any means), but that the mere encounter with hair emancipating from a once shaven visage, piercing the soft delicate morsel of tender lips, may explain the induction of nightmares––assuaged only by the encountering relief found (in-stock) at your local grocery store, hosting the hero of dreams: our friendly neighborhood anti-persperant.
Even with a daily washing of deodorant and toothpaste, true intimacy (for my wife and me) requires an immediate and very thorough and thought-provoking shave.
Lucky for her, once the lobotomizing of facial hair is achieved, dreams of a first kiss settle back in; and, as the embrace of her hands swath lovingly upon the baby-smooth face of love, the one millionth-first kiss is achieved and so––(with kissy, kissy) we live happily ever after. 🙂

Sean, Sean, Sean, I have no phobias. Okay I was scared spit less to kiss, but that normal. So I can only gather that by bringing up facial hair, you making direct cracks in reference to my comment elsewhere of my growing that silly two haired beard now.
My beloved had no facial hair at said time. Now, when I kiss him, I do get the hair in the nose experience from time to time. But I let him know and he is kind enough to trim his mustache. Soon he may be after me to trim my beard. HAHA… Oh wait that could be true. :-}
Okay Sean, so in reality he did have a mustache, nicely trimmed, and smooth. And just had to comment once more because I just kept thinking about your poor wife… LOL
