- What’s the most romantic thing your spouse has ever done for you?
Brought me a bbq-d chicken. I KNOW that sounds odd, but I was a single mom at the time, working my way through grad school with several jobs, and Bob was my neighbor. One day he showed up at my door with a smoked chicken, and I remember thinking “What am I going to do with a WHOLE CHICKEN?” Our romance was off and running from that point on.
- What’s the most romantic thing you’ve ever done for your spouse?
Become a sports fanatic. Hahaha. Actually, it’s true. I wanted to be able to share Bob’s love of sports, so I’ve learned a LOT about football and baseball. I’m still working on basketball. It’s resulted in a lot of fun trips too—as we’ve tried to visit teams where ever I end up going for my writing trips.
- Where is the most romantic place you and your spouse have ever been?
Oh, this one is hard. But I’m going to have to say London. I absolutely loved walking over the Tower Bridge with him. That was a dream come true for me, and quite romantic … until we became lost trying to find out way back to our hotel.
- Do you and your spouse have a favorite romantic vacation destination?
We actually enjoy camping and recently bought a tiny camper. It’s one of the most fun, most romantic things we do … because we leave all the work and worries at home and just enjoy the great outdoors together.
- What simple gesture does your spouse do that melts you every time?
For me it’s just the touch of his hand on my back. I don’t know why I find that so romantic, but I do. 🙂
- How soon after meeting your spouse did you know he/she was the one?
Oh, I thought Bob would make a great date for my older sister! I kept planning to set them up together. But then he kissed me, and the rest is … our own romantic history!
- What is the most caring thing your spouse has ever done for you?
To care for my child. Blended families have many challenges, but I think the most loving, romantic thing that Bob does is to help my son when ever he needs it, and of course I try to do the same for his three children. They’re all grown and moved out of the house now, but it’s amazing how much even adult children still need their parents!

When I close my eyes and envision THE MOST romantic vacation, I see the beach. My husband and I love to walk on the beach at the Outer Banks in NC or on the beach in Mount Pleasant, SC, near Charleston. Just walking, holding hands and tickling our toes in the edge of the water and enjoying each other. Sometimes we are quiet and sometimes we share our thoughts with each other. 36 years married and life is good. 🙂
Paris is by far the most romantic place I can think of
Wow, great interview. When I close my eyes to envision the most romantic vacation, the only image that really pops us is wherever my husband is. His face is the most prominent, so I would have to say wherever we go, as long as we’re together, it’s romantic. I know, a little mushy?
When I close my eyes, I envision going to Belize with my dear friend and husband, but we make everyday special by never taking each other for granted and laughing no matter how tough things are. Life dealt each of us some hard blows, but we cherish the three years we have been together.
Most romantic vacation spot would be mountain cabin in the Pacific Northwest. It is so pretty there!

Most romantic vacation was for our 30th anniversary. We visited 3 of the Hawaiian islands and on the big island of Hawaii, we stopped in a little out of the way chapel and renewed our wedding vows to each other. No one else was presenting the chapel except us and God.
My late husband was very sweet and romantic in many ways! He made each day special. We took many trips. My favorite was a trip to Alaska. We also spent fun times at our beach house, as well as many tourist spots. Aww……… Thank God for precious memories!

When I close my eyes, I envision the most romantic vacation was when we went out west for a month. We traveled through 16 states seeing so many amazing places. Loved the Grand Canyon, (it was simply breath taking) Yosemonite & Yellowstone. That was one vacation I will never forget. What great memories we have. We loved California walking along the ocean, barefoot in the sand, the waves splashing at our feet.
My ideal vacation that I can picture when I close my eyes is on a quiet beach with only my husband and I on the beach. We’d have a lot of snacks, quiet music and so much fun!!
To have a small camper and camp in the woods ~ we actually live near part of the Mark Twain National Forest ~ the lovely falling amber leaves, the cool scent in the air of refreshing change. Kathleen ~ Lane Hill House
I think right now my husband and I are living our most romantic getaway. In Sept, the Lord blessed us with a new job and in turn blessed us with a new home (a condo) on the Chesapeake Bay. Waking every morning to seeing the sun rise over the beach is beyond our wildest dreams, or maybe it has always been our wildest dream! We love the water and the beach and walking hand-in-hand on the sandy shore every day!
My idea of a romantic vacation would be a cruise. Hopefully, next year we will celebrate our 40th on the “Love Boat”.
Somewhere with an ocean and seashells. The only time I ever went to the ocean was Galveston. It’s on my bucket list to go there again.

A cabin in the woods. I mean a cabin with all the amenities, and not too far from civilization. Just the two of us cooking together, eating together, and talking together. No tv or electronic devices for distraction. I would leave any books at home except for the Bible. That would entail some thought provoking conversation.
