Real-life Interview:
- Where is the most romantic place you and your spouse have ever been?
When we were dating—and during the first few years of our marriage—my husband and I loved taking his Harley out for rides through the countryside. We’d explore the backroads of Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee, snuggled up together on the bike, just enjoying the ride and each other’s company. One of our best adventures was a trip down the Florida Keys. Riding across those long bridges on the motorcycle, with me perched on the raised seat behind Tom, felt like we were flying over the ocean. We stopped at different spots along the way, dipped our toes in the sand, and strolled hand-in-hand along the beaches. It’s one of our most cherished memories.
- Do you and your spouse have a favorite romantic restaurant?
Ironically, our favorite romantic restaurant is a little local diner—nothing fancy, mostly Southern fried food. It’s also where we met for the first time. The funny part is, I’ve never been a big fan of the food, and every time we go back to celebrate, I still struggle to find something I really want to eat. But the memory of meeting my sweet husband there makes it more than worth the trip.
- What simple gesture does your spouse do that melts you every time?
My husband has a big sense of humor, though he can get a little cranky now and then. Whenever I’m mad at him, he’ll crack jokes and tease me until I give in and forgive him. (I’ll admit—it sometimes takes a while, especially since I know exactly what he’s doing!) His playful nature keeps things light and helps balance me out—especially since accountants like me can be a little too serious sometimes.
- Who is most romantic, you or your spouse?
My sweet husband is definitely the more romantic one between us. He loves surprising me with thoughtful gifts—often with a romantic twist. For example, we recently attended a conference and decided to stay in San Antonio for the weekend afterward. Since it was my birthday, he planned a few surprises: at dinner, the restaurant staff brought out a birthday “cupcake” and a card he’d arranged for them to give me. When we got back to the hotel, he had wine and chocolate-covered strawberries waiting for us. It was such a sweet and thoughtful gesture.
Character Interview:
- What’s the most romantic thing your hero ever did for your heroine?
In my novel Rise of the Y, the government arranges all marriages—including the one between my hero and heroine. They’d only known each other a few days before the ceremony, and then their world was turned upside down. In the second book, Echoes of the Imperium, the hero finally gets the chance to slow down and romance his wife. He surprises her with a candlelit dinner, followed by stargazing in a greenhouse—her favorite place to be.
- How soon after meeting the hero did the heroine know he was the one?
It took Lexi a while to realize she loved Reeves. Since their marriage was arranged, she resisted caring for him—resenting the fact that she had no say in whether or whom she married. But everything changes when she sees how deeply devoted he is to her, even willing to risk his life to protect her. That’s when she finally understands she loves him.
Question for Readers: If you were in Lexi’s shoes—forced to marry someone you barely knew—what would it take for you to fall in love with them?

About the book – Echoes of the Imperium:
In a world teetering on the edge of chaos, Lexi finds herself at the heart of the ultimate struggle—between peace and war, loyalty and betrayal. The Imperium, a totalitarian regime, has its talons sunk deep into society, and everyone must pick a side. But for Lexi, the choices aren’t so clear-cut. Is her mother a savior, or a power-hungry zealot? Can her arranged marriage to Reeves be real, or is it just another chain to break?
As alliances are forged and betrayals revealed, everyone around Lexi must decide if they are fighting for the group’s freedom or their own self-interest. But even among the rebels, not everyone is as they seem. Someone harbors secrets that could alter the course of the rebellion forever.
‘Echoes of the Imperium’ thrusts you into a labyrinth of moral ambiguity where every choice could be your last. In a battle between the might of the Imperium and the hope of the rebels, where does your allegiance lie?
