What do you have when you have a
- a kidnapped child
- A determined FBI agent
- and a woman with a memory?
Readers of my Appleton, WV Romantic Mysteries might remember that Lincoln Tillis, FBI Special Agent, appeared as a minor character in two of my previous books in this series. Finally, he and Emilia Pavlo get their own story in Ne’er the Twain Shall Meet. But why that title?
Because both of them fell in love with each other, but…problems arose, and neither understand why the other is ignoring him/her. They’ve put forth efforts at contacting each other, but after months of ignoring the other, they realize—or think they do—that something is definitely wrong. Someone or someones have fallen out of love, if it even existed.
On top of that Emilia, because of that long ago memory, insists on inserting herself into the case, and that not only irritates Linc, but worries him too. In spite of his thinking that she cares not one whit for him, he doesn’t want her hurt, and with the kidnapping going on, threats abundantly appearing not only to Linc and his kids, Emilia has received a few too, and that is not acceptable.
You’ll meet pompous Archie Evonovich, a newby to Appleton, but voted in almost unanimously as Appleton’s mayor. What is he hiding?
Then Rita Mae, the brash owner of Rita’s Coffee Shop, who one could say gossips about anyone and everyone when a tidbit comes her way. What does she know and not telling?
Chief Eddie, one of the best policemen around, shares his abilities and advice with Agent Link. His support is a powerful help when all seems lost. And he’s Linc’s biggest encouragement to not give up on Emilia. He surely wouldn’t be covering for the beloved citizens of Appleton…would he?
Then you have the Quintons—poor, unpopular and secretive. What are they not saying when they’re little girl goes missing?
Linc Tillis has his hands full, trying to not only find the ringleader of the kidnapping group, but of keeping his own kids safe, dealing with all those in town who don’t want to cooperate and the few who want to insinuate themselves into the investigation.
When Linc’s own daughter is kidnapped and his son is physically attacked as a threat for him to back off, what’s a man to do? Give up or dig in his heels and trust God to bring closure to this case?
Question for Readers: How many children or grandchildren do you have? Do they live near you or across the country? If you don’t have children, how many siblings do you have? Do you live close to them or your parents?

About the book – Ne’er the Twain Shall Meet (Book Six of the Appleton, WV Romantic Mysteries):
The only good thing happening in Special Agent Lincoln Tillis’ life is the entrance of a very successful, very beautiful lawyer named Emilia Pavlo. Of course, she seems to have lost interest in pursuing a relationship with him. But like a moth to a candlelight, he can’t stay away from her. His heart is hopelessly in love.
But when little Reba Simpson and his own daughter, Ashley are kidnapped, Emilia seems to be the only one with communication with the kidnapper. How much can she be trusted? Does she really want to help as she claims or is she weaving a web of lies to mislead him?
Is she as innocent as everyone else believes, or is his sixth sense that’s never failed him before, right, and he needs to nab her before she hurts Reba and Ashley? Is she the King—Queen Kidnapper after all?
