The Story Behind the Book:
All I can say is that in my story I wanted ‘love’ to shine through. I wanted the love between man and woman to be a special thing, because I don’t believe God has given man any more special gift. Other than that, I lived through the Vietnam era and had friends whose brothers didn’t return. I heard the news every night. Kate’s husband returned, but never got over the war.
Recipe for Romance:
In Joy Restored Seth and the kids prepared a special surprise birthday dinner for Kate, but Chicken Soup is the specialty of my husband and one I dearly like. The thing is the served soup has no chicken, even though three chickens are used in the preparation. He uses only the broth of the chickens. He learned this recipe from his Polish grandmother-‘Busia’- and it has been passed on. Besides three chickens, the soup includes 2 lbs. of parsnips, 2 lbs. of carrots, and a large bunch of parsley. This is served over noodles. Of course, we eat Chicken Soup for a while!

About the book – Joy Restored:
Waging War Against God
Kate Davidson wears a mask since her husband’s life was snuffed out on a mountain curve. Outwardly she continues to care for her children and home. Inwardly she wages a battle with God. Clayton may as well have died in the jungles of Vietnam as in a one-car accident on the Wolf River Bridge.
Loving Life For God
Widower Seth Orbin well understands life and death in God. He wades through rain and lightning to rescue Kate and her kids from a mountaintop storm. The kids find great adventure in being stranded at Seth’s cabin, but the adults sidestep an unexpected attraction that fateful night.
Hard-Won Faith
After sensing their wide spiritual gulf, Seth is conflicted by his growing love for Kate. he longs for her parched faith to heal, but she’s convinced he’s deluded himself with ideas of peace. Besides, Seth’s longtime girlfriend won’t exit the love triangle gracefully.
Will Kate refuse God’s healing and Seth’s love? Or will death steal Seth from her as well?

Shannon, I always love being on your blog and your mission to promote love. It is indeed our greatest gift from God. Thanks for highlighting me. I think the love that grew between Kate and Seth was something special and precious to read about. God can work with our frailties.
I laughed at my recipe above for it is 2# of carrots and 2# of parsnips and even a huge bunch of celery! Not just 2. Yes, no wonder we have soup forever!
