The Story of the First Kiss with My Spouse
My husband Phillip is almost 6 years younger than me. When we first met he was 21 and I was 27. He had never dated before let alone kiss a girl and turned ten shades of red whenever I spoke to him. When we discovered we were both interested in dating each other I thought it would take him a long time to come out of his shy shell.
We had our first date about two weeks after we met and went to see The Secret Garden. He spent the entire time looking at me and I sat there smiling because I knew he wanted to hold my hand but was too shy to grab it. I finally made it easy and he took my hand. We didn’t kiss that first date, but I did leave him with a nice hug and a promise to see each other soon.
We wrote letters of which we still have to this day. This was back before internet and cell phones. No one had heard of ‘texting’ or instant messenger. We paid for every minute of long distance calls we made from house phones (remember those??) We only talked every couple of days but wrote letters daily.
We lived 70 miles apart, so seeing each other took a bit of planning. He invited me on a second date at his apartment the following weekend after our first date. He cooked dinner for me and played romantic classical music while we dined. I thought he was the sweetest thing.
After dinner he had rented Aladdin on an actual VHS tape that we played on a VCR. We sat side by side in his living room in dining chairs because he and his roommate didn’t own a sofa. The movie progressed and at the scene where Aladdin flew down on the magic carpet to kiss Jasmine, Phillip leaned over and kissed me. From that moment on A Whole New World became “our” song.
Just six weeks after our first kiss he proposed on Christmas Eve. We married that following April. And we just celebrated our 20th anniversary.

About the book – Priceless – Love’s True Worth:
Have you ever wondered if there was any sin that God’s grace doesn’t cover? Does a person live who has fallen so deeply in the mire of sin that even God’s love and mercy can’t reach? Even when all hope seems lost and you think life is no longer worth living, God’s love shines through…somehow…
He works in mysterious ways, even when we make the conscious choice to deny Him. He wishes for no one to be lost. No one…
Priceless – Love’s True Worth is such a story, a coming of age romance about a young girl faced with almost more than she can handle. Her life leads her to ill choices that lead her down a dark and unworthy path…until she meets him…until he introduces her to the One who can reach down and save her. The question remains, will she accept it? Will she change her ways?
For mature audiences due to subject matter. No graphic descriptions, just situations.
