Shannon here: V. B. Tenery shares insight into her characters’ romance from her latest romantic suspense, Works of Darkness. Comment or answer the question at the end of the post to enter the drawing for an e-book copy. Deadline: Dec 27th, 11:59 pm central time. Here’s V. B. :
- What simple gesture does your hero do that melts your heroine every time?
Initially, Matt Foley is a reluctant hero, but when Sara is threatened, he steps up to help, despite his misgivings.
- How soon after meeting the hero did the heroine know he was the one?
They have an adversarial relationship (he thinks she murdered her husband) but in the middle of the novel she begins to realize his presence makes her feel safe, although she doesn’t think of him as “the one” at that point.
- Who is most romantic, your hero or your heroine?
The hero, Matt Foley is the most romanic. He is recovering from the death of his wife, but once he makes up his mind about Sara he is very caring and romantic.
- What is the most caring thing your hero has ever done for your heroine?
He jumped into an icy river to rescue her.
- Who said, “I love you” first, your hero or your heroine?
The Matt Foley/Sara Bradford novels are part of a series. In the first novel, neither of them say, I love you, although they do begin a romantic relationship.
- If your hero and heroine end up married, where will they go on their honeymoon?
They do get married in the third novel, Downfall which I am now writing, and go to Hawaii on their honeymoon.

About the book – Works of Darkness:
Some secrets just won’t stay buried.
A construction site provides a horrific discovery when a worker uncovers the skeleton of a small child wrapped in a sleeping bag. Police Chief Matt Foley soon links the murder to another cold case, the hit-and-run death of Attorney Josh Bradford.
The long suppressed memory of the young victim’s childhood friend, Sara Bradford may hold the key to both crimes. But Matt has mixed emotions about Sara—his prime suspect in her husband’s murder.
Matt soon discovers the twenty-five year old mystery has the power to stretch across decades to kill again.

My friends went to Cancun.
Melanie Backus says
I have to say that I don’t think I know anyone who took a wonderfully, romantic honeymoon to an exotic place but my husband went to Hawaii many years ago now and it would be at the top of the list for wonderful honeymoon places.
